So.
Today was another somewhat long day.
Today I had to get a Police Record Check, so that I can work this summer and help orient the new kids at school in September, and exchange my Asian money so that it would be useful to me.
Service Charges are outrageous. lol. In Asia there's practically no price on any service. Again I need to remind myself that people aren't treated properly in Asia. Workers get absolute minimum pay and no tip or anything. Working hard all day for almost nothing. So, my paying a bit of tax or a small fee is helping a lot of people.
Anyways. I eventually went to the house I'll be living in come September and we had pasta and ice cream and played monopoly. We also talked about Asia. It was good.
You don't know yet, but you will see that I was really being tempted to do nothing and given bad attitudes and temptations to do 'that thing that guys sometimes do' and all that stuff while on project. The devil doesn't want us doing work. He definately slowed me down. I could have done way more, but God taught me a lot and sometimes the hard way is the better way to really learn things. Hebrews 12:11 "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." I hope I have really been trained and pray that the training sticks and doesn't wash away.
Ya. I'm sick.
Goodnight.

Week 2: I'm in Asia...?! -- May 7
9pm-ish
Hey! I'm in East Asia! What?!? So crazy, but I'm kinda beyond tired.
So, ya, after the four hours, I didn't sleep on the bus, I didn't sleep before the plane ride, and I only got a little sleep on the plane. I watched a movie and some TV including 'Being Erica' and 'Modern Family'.
So, one thing to remember, if you want to sleep on the plane, make sure you sleep during the simulated night time or else you won't be able to sleep during the simulated day time and the simulated sunrise will wake you up. I got to see some mountains (East Asian character for mountain)! So cool!

The hotel we are staying at is pretty nice. I can't complain. There is a toilet in our bathroom, but also it is a shower. The bathroom. Kinda funny.
Also, I think that it is odd that today was yesterday. In other words, I am blogging during the same day of being awake, but the time change was pretty severe. lol.

Week 1: Orientation -- May 6
Almost 8am
We have left the college and are going to the airport for our crazy 12 or 14 hour flight..? [more like 11..?] It's gonna be a bit long, but whatever. I hope my television screen works. Ya. xP [on the ride to Vancouver, it did not.]
Last night we played 'Catch Phrase' with some people. It was a lot of fun. [lol. balls on a stick. *hand gesture of balls on a stick*... *beep* "It was grapes." lol] Then we started watching 'Peter Pan'. I ended up accidentally falling asleep when I went back to my room to use the washroom. It was a bit cold again, but I don't want to complain about it 1) because biblically I shouldn't [Philipians 2:14 "Do everything without complaining or arguing"] and 2) I will soon desire to complain about the heat. xP
We played badminton. We learned some important stuff. We had an awesome praise and worship session and really prayed for a while. I really want to see God reward our faith and see all the stones connect. [The last day of Orientation we all took some stones and prayed in faith that we'd be able to give them to new Christians when they pray to recieve Christ, encouraging them that Jesus is the firm foundation and solid rock. Matt 7:24-27]
Ya. I can't wait. I'm gonna miss everyone I meet this summer. >.>

Week 1: Orientation -- May 5
Almost 8am
It's rainy again. It's been so nice and sunny most of the time though so I guess its ok. xP. God has really blessed us this week. Yesterday we had a bunch of sessions on sharing and the gospel including a session on apolegetics. We also got our family roles. I've been given the role of materials coordinator and I'm sharing the fun time coordinator position. This summer is gonna be awesome. I don't know how I feel about the day of rest, but I suppose it is a command, so I'll do it.
Yesterday the elastic band battle continued and intensified. I now have 15. I'd been thinking, there's probably like 150-160 or so maybe, so I've got like 1/10 of the bands. xP. I followed one guy and made sure I got the two he owed me. lol. [Elastic band battle: there was a game to help us learn to speak 'politely'. We were each given 3 bands and whenever you 'swore', meaning to say a Christian word, you would lose a band to whoever caught you 'swearing'.]
I was also told that I am good at East Asian, so that is a positive thing. I really want to be a circle head when I get back. That would just be the funniest thing ever. [There was an analogy in a session. Canadians are 'block heads' and East Asians are 'circle heads'. We want to adapt and become 'stop-sign heads' (octagons. both round and with edges, so in between) being able to relate with them, yet not becoming them.]
Ya, spiritual warfare / temptation has definitely not been a very strong problem so far, but I'm sure that when it gets down to it, it will be... I really pray that I will be fully open with my family and that we can all support each other in this.
D.Fa
Week 1: Orientation -- May 4
Almost 8am
Yesterday was full on, hardcore. We had so much to learn and take in. Especially manners [which is the 'polite' way to use Christian words while we were in East Asia. My blog was written in manners and as such I will need to change a significant number of words.] It's a real challenge to pray politely, I mean, I usually say 'Lord' at the end or beggining of most of my sentences while praying, so I have to break that habit. I suppose it's a good thing. Sometimes we end up praying the same way for a long time and it just ends up being so much less meaningful, so much less powerful, sometimes you forget that you have to pray from the heart.
But either way, God doesn't care what you say. He hears what your heart says.
So, ya. Yesterday was awesome, finances have been dealt with and I can just relax with my family.
I didn't really realize that we wouldn't be going to a church in East Asia. That we have to be the pastor and the praise and worship team and the congregation. It'll be amazing to see how God and the Holy Spirit speaks through my family.
D.Fa
[PS. family was the 'polite' way of saying team, but I much prefer the word family. The 15 of us were a family, not a team. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and so I will continue to use the term family. From here on out family (when used during an EAP blog post) means my team unless otherwise stated.]
Week 1: Orientation -- May 3
Almost 7am.
Yesterday was great once we got off the plane. We got to meet so many awesome people. We took a two hour bus ride to a Bible College and moved into a res building. Each room has two people and a shared bathroom with one other room.
The weather yesterday was kinda exactly tha same as Ottawa. Mild, cloudy, rainy. Ya. Kinda strange how you move from one side of the country to the other and it's the same. Well, the houses are all huge here. lol. There was a suburb I saw from the plane. It was like all monsions.
Ya. We got to know where we are going and who is on our team and by a small probability, AL is on my team. I was prepared to be on different teams. It's gonna be interesting.
We have a pretty packed schedule. 8am-9pm with an hour or so of freetime. We also have 9-11pm to do whatever. I went to bed at 11pm, ie 2am Ottawa time after playing Settlers of Catan with my roommate, his friend and two other guys who are not involved in EAP. I had 8 victory points, but we had to go at 11pm, so, we all won. lol.
D.Fa
Week 1: Orientation -- May 2
Almost 11am.
So. We are at the airport and we are waiting until we can board the plane. I am bag sitting. I don't have a watch. It's kinda a gross day in Ottawa, cloudy, rainy, ya. And I'm a bit confused, but whatever. It'll work out.
Time to start living every second, every breath, every step, every thought, every desire for God. JK and HK got me a camera! So awesome. Just need to make sure I get a converter for the outlets while I'm in Vancouver or wherever we are going.
This is where my blogging will be for the next month and a half. When I get back... guh... typing all of this, ya right... Ya.
So excited!

Day 2 of the lag.
Yo. I slept 3:30-8:30 am. weird, eh?
It seems that I get so much done now. like 3 hours feels so much longer. I like it.
Anyways, I went to church today in all new clothes from Asia and gel in my Mohawk (yes I have a Mohawk again, but it's way better.) and a lot of people said that they didn't recognize me at first. Everyone did in the end. My church family is awesome. Singing with all of them is awesome. Just being surrounded by that love, the love of God manifested in each of them and them as a family, so good.
Father's day was today. I feel like it isn't really celebrated as a holiday. Like it's hallmark cards and a couple tacky presents. In church it was so much more. About how our father's are simply modeling our Heavenly Father and all that good stuff.
Ya. I talked briefly to a lot of people. RL was the very first person I saw and I was sooooo happy when I saw him. I thought "awesome! RL's going to church every week again!", but no... first time since I left... T.T I'm still praying for him. Apparently someone is disciple-ing him now. Sweet.
Anyways, we went for lunch in a huge group and ate Mexican food. Like 12 times more expensive... I could eat for 4 days in Asia for that one meal. Tax and tip... lol. There are unseen benefits to everyone with the higher cost.
Then I've been here working on the email and playing tennis with my brother. My forehand died with all the badminton, but my serve is way better. lol.
I need to email the summer camp people and see a couple things. 1. I can't register for classes until the day after I leave... And, there's a wedding the day before I return... We'll see what happens.
Yup. I need a quiet time.
Ttyl.

PS. I'll start blogging tomorrow. I promise.

I'm Home, Yo!
Hey!
I've missed you guys! These last six weeks have been an amazing time seeing what God has been doing in East Asia already, seeing how he can use us, and really learning more about our relationship with Him. It's been up and down, but so many great things have happened and I can't wait to share them with you guys and everyone else.
We had no internet acsess while in East Asia, so I apoligize for there being no updates, but thanks so much for all the prayers and support you guys gave for me, for the project, for East Asia, for everything. Thanks.
Anyways, I was keeping a blog journal which because it was not online AL corrected my calling it a blog because it was a log not a web log, but I still called it a blog and labelled the cover "Incomplete Compostion: Log B". I wrote in it everyday up until yesterday and I plan to type it all up. So, please be patient. xP
I'll still be sharing great things with you anyways. xP Today was messed up though. I slept from 6am-4pm after scanning through my emails while drinking chocolate milk and what I discovered to be two-month-old, stale Frootloops (in East Asia where I was, there was very little cow milk, only sold in small bags like a juice box, although there was a lot of soy milk, but that's different. Also, there was no cereal). Then I woke up and the first few hours seemed to drag on forever. I cleaned the kitchen, answered my new emails (mostly from facebook) and turned on my cell phone.
I've also been procrastinating writing an email to my supporters. That will be done soon. Ya. So, I have two weeks here then I'm off to Northern Quebec. This means the 45ish blog posts must be completed in about 14 days as well as all the other stuff I have to do.
Ya. Apparently while I was gone some people from Armenia, Barbados, and Kyrgyzstan saw my blog! w00t!
Okay. I gotta work on the email. I'll keep you posted.

The End of Waiting.
So.
Can I say I already miss some people?
I miss the YF group that we had Pho with today.
I leave tomorrow morning.
I don't know what to say.
Goodbye is too much.
Ttyl is too little.
So, ya. This is anticlimactic.
D.Fa
Oh, right, there is one thing I've been thinking today that I needed to blog about.
Bruno Mars.
His song 'Grenade' is pretty catchy. It is also pretty heartfelt. He talks about giving all he has for his love. Only asking for their love in return. He would got through all this pain, even dying for his love, but they wouldn't do the same. Do they love him back? What if he did die for them? Should they love them back then? What if everything came from them and they still don't even recognize that. Rejection sucks, but unrequitted love stinks too. What is God going through? HE did die for us and yet so many don't recognize this and so many don't love Him back.
Ya, I'm kinda feeling this song as a challenge to love God more for all He did / does for us.
Ya. XP.
Relationships are weird sometimes. What started with a very long shallow chat about pokemon, may have turned into, like, my best friend? Don't read too much into that though. xP. I'm gonna miss everyone. >.>

Penultimate Post
So,
it is Saturday, April 30th. I leave Monday at 11:30. My bus pass dies tonight... I'm gonna need tickets for one day! what!? ya... but only because we're going for pho after church Sunday, which is great. Other then that, I should be moving very soon and I have a bubble tea meeting downtown at 3pm. Nothing else has been planned. Which means there is a likely chance that I don't see any of my friends from highschool before I leave. >.>
So, ya. I will more then likely not be blogging during my trip to Asia, but I may end up writing in a notebook things that I will post afterwards, or just post some of the highlights? I havn't decided. In either case, there will be great stories. xP

Today.
Today.
Not much happened today. (the wedding doesn't count. I slept in. =P) I'm tying up loose ends, doing a bit more work at my parents' house, cleaning and emptying the house for the incoming pile of furniture from my grandparents' house. In any case, my parents' house is getting a lot cleaner.
Today I went to 168 Sushi Japan Buffet with RL and AL. It was pretty great again, although the guy who seems like he owned the place kinda challenged us to eat everything we ordered, so we finished it really quickly... xP Also, RL only ate teriyaki and rice.
Just now I moved a lot of stuff from 'the boy house' to CW and JS's house (my new house!). I moved everything that would fit in my parents' car, so all that is left for tomorrow when JW helps me is the table top, my dresser, two mattresses, 2/4 of the bed frame, an office chair and my bike (flat tire...)
So, ya. I'm dying to leave already. Vancouver for a week, then off to Asia!

Super Awesome Springtime Fun
Did I ever tell you about how awesome the weather in Ottawa is..? Well in the last few days it's been like between like -2 and +21'C, super humid, super windy, hailing, chance of tornado, thunder storm, pouring rain, sunny and happy, cloudy, mild, cool, dry, breezy, the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping at 5:30am NONSTOP!, a bird sang the song of healing earlier, the universe's physical constants are all super precise for the existance of life... Ok, so, that's a bit more than just the weather, but it's all super awesome.
My friend in Toronto was complaining a bit about the chance for tornadoes. WHY? I wish I was near a tornado!!! =D (super creepy smily face)
Ya. Today is awesome. The windows are all open, the doors are all open, the sun is shining ... *looks outside* what is that mass of fur in that tree?!?! OMW! IT'S A SUNBATHING SQUIREL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I am not kidding. I creeped a picture with a pair of binoculars. but when I got closer it jumped away. T.T)
Ya. Today is awesome. God is awesome.
I got my passport back!!!!!!! SO AWESOME! It's got my new visa and everything!!!! I'm super psyched now!
Gonna do a Bible study and then keep cleaning.

400 Shows I like.
So. This week I have spent my time mainly at my parents' house. Much of the 'free' time has been spent with the thing we call a television and I have come to like some programs. How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, The Office, Modern Family. These shows are quite funny.
It doesn't take too much to get highly involved in a show. Just a couple shows into a Easter marathon and Sheldon's quirks had already won me over. The Office took it's time, but gradually wore me down once I understood all the sub plots of the other characters below Micheal's racist and sexist and just overall rude commentary that fills up most of an episode. Modern Family always has a happy ending despite how crazy the plot becomes. How I Met Your Mother is quite funny. The clash between the characters, that although they are very different, they get along somehow and stick together no matter what.
I havn't really watched very much tv in a while. Just anime, but there are good comedies that are 'live action'. lol. I never said anime is better then everything. I never will. So, ya...

Temptation.
I feel like I should just give in.
It's our desire to sin. The devil can't make us, but he can tempt us as much as he would like to.
I feel like sometimes I should just go sinning while I'm young and just not care about any reprecussions, I mean, God can and will forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness if we truly confess and repent, right?
God created us in His image. He wanted to have a relationship with us. Why did we ever turn away? Temptation, a desire for control.
But honestly, God doesn't want us to sin. Sin is 'missing the mark', not meeting expectations. Sin goes against who He is and who He calls us to be. In the Old Testament he calls us to live holy lives for He is holy. He even says that He will be the one to make us holy, knowing our sins and desire for sin. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Not to be cliche or anything, but the Ten Commandments are an easy reality check for whether we hit the mark or not as far as God is concerned. He says 1. You are to worship God alone. 2. No Idolatry, I am God and nothing else you make should be. 3. Do not take His name in vain. 4. Keep the Sabbath. 5. Honour your parents. 6. No murder. 7. No adultery. 8. No stealing. 9. No lieing. 10. No coveting. I for one have failed pretty much all of them. We all miss the mark.
He did the only thing He could. He is just, a crime deserves a punishment. The wages of sin is death, so only death could pay for our sins. Israel used to make sacrifices, killing spotless animals in place of themselves for their misdeeds. God sent Jesus to die on the cross. He was spotless. After 40 days in a desert being tempted by the devil He still didn't give in to him. He lived His life and gave it for our sins. By His death on the cross, our sins are paid for.
Why should we sin? God tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." There is always a way out. It's our decision.
Now the real problem is that. We have freewill. We can make our own choices. It's so much harder this way... Even knowing God never fails me, God is good, God has a perfect plan for me, God has a purpose for my life, God wants an intimate relationship with me, God knows all, God called me to Him... Why would I keep turning away?
Ttyl.

Even knowing God never fails me, God is good, God has a perfect plan for me, God has a purpose for my life, God wants an intimate relationship with me, God knows all, God called me to Him... Why would I keep turning away?

The Weight Continues
And so another day has passed and I am still in the Glen House (ie. The boy house) and am actually much more packed then yesterday. Today I packed up my closet and all my stuff in the rest of the house that I had yet to pack such as dryer sheets and pans.
What did I do today?
-Good Friday Service. Awesome.
-Walked home. Awesome. (I kinda have the desire to walk home from everywhere and I have now walked home from church. yuss. and actually the church is maybe going to move soon. Bonus, I have now walked home from our possible new church (because it was en route) I also learned that SC is more awesome then I had thought and that intermissions can be very awkward)
-ate a cucumber and cheese. Random.
-went home to pack. Random. I realized I only have two t-shirts that have no writing on them. They are both the same colour, but I only like one of them. Now I have to choose which of my other shirts I care the least about (because, where I am going, no clothes will return the same way they arrived.) Shirts with writing on them are, however, very sentimental because they are each an event or a club I've been in or a souvenir t-shirt or something of similar ideas.
-bussed another box to my new house and cleaned. lol... I get focused on small details. You know the borders around floors, the little white trimming thing..? Well, it had not been cleaned in a while. Also there were a number of cobwebs especially on the second floor.
-borrowed ankle weights from JS and am still wearing them.
-walked home (boy house) and returned a pair of keys on the way. Also walked by a couple day cares, old elementary school, a park, a couple of old friend's houses, work etc.
-bought McD's for my brother (without a coupon)
-watched How I Met Your Mother and The Office. Both are good shows, I admit. I kinda want to go to Scranton now. Just from all the hype. We also watched Wipe-Out. The puns are quite funny, but really there is no plot and the competition is just a joke.
-walked home (boy house) and b(r/l)ogged.
That is what I did today.
Also I was told that, because I have a certain way of over texting and a certain way of doing so, I should compile a guidebook 'How to Text: Texting Etiquette' or something like that. I would like to do just that, but I'll actually be text free for the next two months. T.T I will do this however, by using a blog draft and just adding tips. I feel 100 tips or rules is enough. When I hit 100 I will publish said blog post. Don't expect anything until mid September.

PS. Have you ever heard of 'cast notes'? At MHS for a drama production, each cast member would, the week of the performances (often closing night by procrastination), write and deliver a note to every other cast member. Commonly found in cast notes are fond memories that they have shared, a memorable funny thing someone else has done, a funny comment someone (including possibly the director) has made, future plans, encouraging words, 'break a leg', a doodle, something creative, etc.
SC made what I am calling 'Friend Notes' because he's moving back to Toronto for the summer. They are all really cute. xP We love you SC! 'Open up SC. *slap*'

Officially
I am done my first year of University
I am moving the rest of my junk to CW's room tomorrow
I am living in my parent's house for the next week and a half to 'babysit' my brother. Keep the house from burning down, you know?
I am probably not getting a tennis membership this summer, but that may still change, so I guess it's not official, especially because I have enough cash in my pocket right now and have been thinking a lot about doing it even if its only for a couple weeks here and there and Septemberish...
Feel like I failed Linear Algebra even though I know I have around an 89...
Can't wait for East Asia!!!!!!!!!
My clove of garlic is not growing
JS is one of my favourite YF. He could easily be on a list of 'Cute Things' which I felt strongly to create when he sent me a facebook message containing the phrase I tweeted yesterday. "im sure u ll be ready to translate God's love by the summer no worries God tells u what to say"

So, yesterday I was feeling kinda funny. I was also having a gmail chat conversation. The following are lines that I typed that have been removed from context and not changed in anyway.
me: I'm all packed!
me: moving
me: probably wednesday. >.>
me: I feel like I've packed my room into a box and won't be opening it for 4 months. xP Like 'my life' has been put on hold.
me: lol............... It's weird.... I even rearranged my room so I could get at all the dust and now it's not my room anymore. Especially because its just a plain, empty white cube with a white bed.
not to mention the echo.
me: ... the echo only formed because I packed up my room. Same with the bareness of the walls after taking down my shelves and pictures and posters and calendar and stuff.
me: lol..... but your walls are gross. lol... I like the walls in everyone else's rooms. xP
I feel the need to add a couple of the person to whom I was 'speaking' with's lines. At this point he told me to "Get Out." and that "Fake hardwood paneling is the best wall option in the world."
me: false
We then went on about how "I'm not going to get out just because I, currently, don't appreciate fake hardwood paneling." and how "If you don't like it, get out. Because I love it."
me: Right now the kitchen is really bugging me. The cobweb above the table and the dead flies on the light. I must clean them... xP
me: I can understand why some short people may not notice them, but you're tall... lol
To which he replied "ya, but I don't really look up that much."
me: lol
I thought that convo was longer. Meh. In any case I hope you found it mildly amusing and informative as to how I am currently feeling about packing and moving and the whole thing.
Also, yesterday I watched 10 episodes of an anime named "Majou Shoujo Madoka Magica" because a friend recommended it. It is not a normal "mahou shoujo" (magic girls) anime (like sailor moon or mew mew power..?). It is a lot darker. The last two episodes have been delayed due to the earthquakes / tsunami in Japan. But they will be airing April 21st. Now that I've seen it, neither I nor my friend can wait for it. I'm actually praying for it. Praying for anime? Weird? kinda. But what I'm praying for is that the gospel would be either in the last two episodes, or that something very easy to start a spiritual conversation off of would be in the episodes. There's already been some stuff like trading your soul for one wish and self-sacrifice. I can see (in my head) how if the main 'evil magic girl' sacrifices herself for her friends it would be extremely easy to relate to the gospel. I don't want to spoil anything... so... unless you watch it I won't be able to talk to you about it. It's a really good show though. Most 12 episode anime are. (not that 1000 episode anime can't be good.) I digress. I am also praying for my friend. He's taking a whole 5 course summer semester. So, ya.
Also, I've felt again that a day spent on yourself for no other purpose is completely a waste of time. I mean, I studied like a couple hours that day, but mainly sin was taking up most of my time. That is too vague. After I studied, I watched anime for 5 hours before my exam and did absolutely nothing productive. I should be spending my 'extra time' growing closer to God as time is running out before EAP, not wasting whole days at a time... I have like 2 weeks left...

The palest ink lasts longer than the sharpest memory.
So, this week I have been really encouraged.
The thing though is that I have been encouraged by the past, more specifically by things that have been written down when God was really working in the lives of the authors.
So, I was thinking and I realized I still haven't posted about my Campus for Christ Sharing Testimony from the week after Summit. So here it is. lol.
"Random Evangelism":
"My name is Dylan. I have been going to OCBC for a couple years and I have heard some things about C4C. My general impression is that everyone went out alone and just talked to as many people as possible in a quick, random evangelism.
I am usually very shy when I meet people for the first time, so talking that much with, basically, strangers really scared me, on top of which I feel I don't know enough to properly share with others. So basically, I never really shared [my faith] with anyone until these last couple weeks.
Summit and C4C in general really encouraged me and pushed me to go outside my comfort zone. There was training and I got to meet a lot of other C4C members.
After Summit was 'the plunge' where everyone was encouraged to break a faith barrier and take their faith a step further. For many first years this meant sharing the gospel with someone on campus for the first time. That is what it meant for me.
The first time, me and [SS] went to the food court. We talked about the usual way [SS] shares with others and then we prayed that God would lead us to the right person.
After praying, we turned to the person sitting right beside us. His name was [J(?)]. He was an international student and had been taking philosophy. Recently they had been thinking about the meaning of life and he was interested in speaking with us. As we went through the 'Knowing God Personally' booklet he recognized Revelation 3:20 [Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.] He said that he had seen a movie and after [SS] had inquired, it had almost definitely been "the Jesus Film". [J(?)] didn't accept Christ that day, but seemed interested in follow up.
Afterwards [SS] told me more about "the Jesus film" and how in China to see the film you have to be in a private screening with headphones. The fact that [J(?)] had seen it is amazing. God had already been working in his life.
My second attempt at sharing was on Wednesday. I again asked to see if anyone could come with me and everyone who responded was too busy. So I was left alone and was pretty frightened. I wasted like 40 minutes reading my email and blogging before I made up my mind. In an hour if I hadn't already gone sharing, I would go. I prayed that God would calm my heart, give me courage, that He would guide me to the right person and that He would give me the right words to say.
Less than 3 minutes later BC walked over and sat down with me. BC was someone I knew from highschool. We had very similar schedules throughout highschool, but we don't really talk too much. However, I had felt before that I should share with him and I felt it again.
I'm not very good at explaining things usually, but we went through the booklet and there were a lot of questions to answer. I think I managed to get most of the point across. BC had heard most of it before when I invited him to a youth outreach event. If BC hadn't shown up when he had I probably wouldn't have shared that day.
These two sharing experiences I've had since Summit have shown me a number of errors in my image of C4C sharing.
1. You are never alone. Whether you go sharing with another C4C member or not, God is there too.
2. You don't need to know every point in the Bible to share the gospel. The Holy Spirit will give you the words and the booklet gives you focus.
3. There is nothing random about it. You make an effort to set aside an hour and a half, you ask God to guide you and God will provide you with someone. [Although this point can also be expanded past a strict 1.5 hour setting into a more daily walking with God with your whole life open waiting for the opportunities God gives you. (Don't compartmentalize God!)]
4. It isn't just about getting to as many people as fast as you can. It is about having an actual conversation with another person.
2 Timothy 1:7-8 For God has not given us a Spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord... but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God."
Yep. That is it. 3 pages of graph paper written in pencil on a bus ride from home to school on a friday afternoon. God really was showing me that He does great things. Whenever we take steps in faith, He helps us along and does great things.
Ya, I thought this might encourage someone. It's hitting me. lol. I read today that the first thing Jesus said to his disciples was that they would become fishers of men, ie bringing others to Jesus. The first thing He said. If you aren't fishing, you aren't a disciple. That line also hit me.

Thunder Storms and Pasta
So, yesterday.
Yesterday started off with me waking up at 5 am. Guess why? Thunderstorm! Yay! But the coolest thing was that the power was out and that the storm was practically directly above us (which I later realized isn't as cool as I thought, or maybe it is..?)!!!! So, it was just like nonstop flashes of light outside my window! You couldn't see the lightning, just the light, rain was pouring, all my housemates were awake (RL was at his parents) and JR ran outside... lol... After about half an hour the lights turned back on and I realized how silent and dark it was a moment earlier. I mean, now there were all these little things buzzing and a bunch of small flashing lights and ya... I went back to sleep, but kept my phone on to wake me up. I later read a facebook status "Somebody must have been playing Song of Storms over and over last night..." lol.
I woke up at like 9:30 and just lay in bed until 10. I just didn't want to do any work. I still don't, but yesterday was my last day before my week of exams started, so I should have started the cramming.
At 10 I talked with my EAP support coach. He doesn't like how I don't really answer questions.
I then had breakfast/lunch and watched anime.
I then wasted like an hour and a half drawing a diagram to represent my support raising for project. I drew block letters of EAP on graph paper with each block being 50$ I need to raise. It took me a long time to figure out how big to draw the letters and then to colour it in with the support I have so far, colour coded to each person, and then I accidentally did it wrong and I admit it was a huge waste of time.
I knew I should have been cramming for my CHEM exam today, but no... I kept wasting time.
I studied for a couple hours while playing songs by Two Door Cinema Club over and over and over again and then I ran off to my new house to have a meal with my new housemates. I saw CL and MC on the bus.
There was a lot of raised voices at my new house, mostly caused by me and the whole 'splitting a room in half' business and how that effects the rent. It seems that DK, CW and JS 'debate' quite a bit. In any case, CW prepared a pasta meal for us and we all had some with light dinner conversation. Following that we had a 'house meeting' to address issues with common areas and chores and just things in general. The last topic raised was really awkward. It was DK bringing up the fact that we don't tell each other that we love each other as much as we should. He argued that as Christians we should be more loving because we know a bit more about real love through Jesus among other reasons. The most awkward point (debatably) was when he said he could easily write more about what makes each of us special then he can for a school paper.
They tried wrapping up the meeting quickly so that I could go home and study, but the things I saw were that a) they do love each other, b) they pray with each other, c) they don't hold back anything from being discussed. These are all things I wish I saw more of at my house. I have yet to see a couple of my housemates pray.
Ya, when I got home I watched a couple episodes of Modern Family with everyone. It's a good show that always has a moral, warm and fuzzy ending.
Ya. So I wasted all of yesterday. Then this morning I woke up at 6:50 and did everything quickly so that I could go and then I decide to clean out my closet. >.> Ya. Wasted a half hour making a pile of clothes I don't want to / havn't been wearing that I can get rid of because I really have only been wearing like 8 shirts and there were like 25-30 in my closet. The first step in moving is to get rid of everything that is useless to you.
Ya. CHEM exam asian fail. Probably.
Ttyl.

Probably.

So, I know what my impression on Merivale drama is. My laugh lives on in the memory of all.
Tonight was the closing night for MHS' annual musical 'The Drowsy Chaperone'. It was like the best musical I have seen in a while, not only because I haven't actually seen one (at merivale) in like 3 years, but because it really was an amazing production. Absolutely everything was so good. I was laughing so much and I wish that the memory of it would last forever. Every person was excellent in their roles, the music was great, the lighting was simple, but great, in short, I loved it.
I gave so many people hugs today.
High school musicals are just like the best thing ever. You spend like 10 hours a week in rehearsals with the same 20-30 people and really build relationships that last. I miss them all again. lol. They are like a really widely extended crazy family, but I love them all.
I definitely don't tell people I love them enough. I guess one reason is that it's such a loaded word. In our society, 'love' has such a shallow limited meaning sometimes. 'love' isn't just 'romantic' or 'sexual'. The term 'brotherly love' is not equal to 'bromance'. Love is in it's true form unconditional and everlasting, greater than any problem and greater than any can imagine. Love is so deep, wide, long, high, so unfathomable and so real and yet people have given up on it. People have taken and accepted a shallow 'love', a 'love' that is sometimes even orchestrated and... I could keep going on and on.
Even I don't truly know what love is. If I tried to comprehend it on my own, I wouldn't be able to.
I don't say this enough, but I really mean it. I love you.

I get the urge...
... to dance really strangely when I hear this song. lol
By a series of somewhat random events I ended up watching this video on youtube.
TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB, WHAT YOU KNOW
It's kinda really catchy. The first thing I thought when I heard it was "Why are british people so good at singing?" Then I started thinking about what the video / song actually means. They are an indie band under kitsune records (a french company with a japanese name, what!? and they are british!?!?) At first I was thinking that all the girls were the same because maybe they are making a statement about how all girls look the same, which I later rethought into girl's try to look the same to fit in, which is kinda mentioned in the chorus. (I don't understand any of the verses or that random shot to the girl with the feather crown thing..? lol. it's indie. deal with it.)
The dancing is, I would actually say very regular, especially because they are not synchronized, but the visuals in the video are very interesting in general.
In any case, I really don't understand the video, but what I got is that everyone sees clearly that no one wants to be alone. Everyone wants to fit in, have friends, be in relationships with other people, not even 'romantic' relationships, just friends/family. We all crave this acceptance and community. Well, I don't think I can say that, but I know pretty much everyone craves it. I certainly do.
Ya. Ttyl.

Update!
So.
Today was interesting. My tires were both flat, so I decided my feet were less important than the bike and I walked an hour and a half to school. Some highlights: A bus full of kids laughing at me, walking through the puddle rather than the mud around it, having the song 'Enough' stuck in my head.
That is one of the many things I was thinking about on the way to school. God gives us so much. so much more than we need. We take for granted basic things that we think just go without saying. I have a renewed appreciation for shoes. There is so much we can't do without shoes, lol, for example, tennis. There is no way you would be as agile or willing to slide to get a shot while barefoot.
There are people who don't have the option to wear shoes because they just don't have them. I chose to not wear shoes all day to raise awareness for that. A lot of people saw me without shoes, but only a couple people asked. I definitely thought that more people would be barefoot. I actually didn't see anyone else.
Another thought I had while walking was about my convictions toward not wearing shoes for one day. I would do anything. I would walk miles barefoot, with numbingly cold, wet, feet on rough paths. I would walk by people's gazes and laughing children. I wouldn't care who saw me. It was just one day to raise awareness. So, why can't it be the same for Jesus? Why do I back away? Why are we scared to look weird in front of other people? If I can walk miles barefoot, can't I walk over to the guy across the room and talk with him about Jesus?
It also showed me how blessed we are that we have shoes, clothes, jackets, laptops, bikes, homes, food, water, everything we need and yet we crave more.
God gives us more than we need. He also is the only one who gives us the thing we desperately need that most.

One Day Without Shoes #2!
Hey!
Today is one day without shoes! I did it last year and it was pretty much an amazing day. Sure, at the time I was freaking out and kinda annoyed, but I got to see how much shoes actually do.
Last year I didn't wear shoes all day. That included walking to school, school, band..? and a bunch of other things and then I had to go to all-star band rehearsal. The bus driver wouldn't let me on, so I walked / ran like a few kilometers through mud and pouring rain while carrying my trombone. I got soaked and when I got there everyone was like "what in the world?!?!?!" It's pretty funny looking back. I kinda hurt my foot running with no shoes.
In any case today is another day and Carleton is just a bit further than that other school was. I intend to bike, although that is also not too fun without shoes, but its better than walking in this weather. lol.
I'll ttyl after today.

Nothing to complain about
So.
I have complained/vented a lot recently and it has not gone well in any of the cases. Sure I was a bit less stressed by just talking about it or whatever, but the stress or annoyance is multiplied onto any/everyone that was listening. If you were one of those people, I apologize. I have done some research (basically none, and all the sites were bloggers or comments or a youtube video) and I've come to see that venting is used to constructively deal with stress while complaining is just complaining about things and not doing anything.
Either way I think it can still be annoying or stressful to the people being vented at and at the same time depending on who you are venting to, I can see it being very helpful. Maybe if I ask before I vent and also ask for their opinion or advice on the matters it becomes more of a constructive sympathetic conversation rather than just complaining or talking at someone.
In the part of Sunday school to which I was there Pastor DB talked briefly about habits that we form at work/school, specifically bad ones and what we can do about it. What are some habits you form at work..? At work I have a habit of being 15 minutes late, I don't talk very much, except to certain people, I am focused on getting my job done, but I often complain (sometimes to coworkers, but usually to everyone else) about work in general. At school I complain a lot about TAs... Sure, everyone does, but really, we should be grateful that we have TAs. The lab coordinators wouldn't have time to teach all of us. I should also be more grateful for the job I have, it has been a very flexible schedule that adapts to my varying involvement in school activities and ya, it has got me through so far without having my parents pay me more than they do already.
We really do have a lot more than a lot of people do. We should be very grateful for everything we have not just complain about the little things here and there that bug us.
In any case, I should stop uselessly complaining, or griping as it is also called.
Ttyl.

Things Happen
So,
I have been asking my housemates to take my potatoes away. I then decided I should make a large pile of french fries because a pile of mashed potatoes would be stupid, but JW then said I should make mashed potatoes.
Randomly, I decided I would use tonight and make mashed potatoes for everyone in my house. There is no one here (except RL, but he doesn't count.) so, there are now 3 bowls with foil covering mashed potatoes...... I was also going to finally cook the pie my dad bought for them all, but they aren't here, so I may not do that tonight.
JR returned not long ago and has not said a word about the potaoes and has been cooking a bunch of other random things. I still don't like him. >.> It's annoying. but we just don't talk to each other. ever. >.>
Anyways, yesterday I was looking at a Chinese song and looking at the lyrics in both traditional and simplified and I saw this: 爱 you know what this is? It's the simplified character for love. This, 愛 , is the traditional character for love. notice the 心 (heart) in the middle? In traditional, there is a heart in love. In simplified there is no heart and at the bottom there is actually a 友 (friend). AL joked about this remark that the simplified is more like 'I don't love you that way, more like a friend' lol. Personally, I think that dropping the heart from love is a simplified fail. I may have even said simplified is stupid, making me a 'traditional snob'. I'll have you know that I think traditional is very much more complicated than it has to be, but sometimes the traditional makes way more sense.
Anyways, ya, I've been messaging some people about supporting me and I've seen some more support come in even these last couple days.
Ya, ttyl.

PS. I wrote heart and friend in japanese. lol. Also I couldn't figure out how to type love in traditional, so I had google translate it for me.

So, I just wasted like an hour and a half and I will now explain using B words:
Broom
Blue Bin
Bored

Bb gun

Beer cans (root)
Bull's eye
Bounce

Blog
Anyways, I have a limited vocabulary. Deal with it. Also, I wasn't supposed to touch those bb guns, so don't tell JK. Also, RL is scared of anything that might hurt him. Also, I feel like guns are way cooler now, but I will still continue to refuse to play Halo.

If You Were Stuck in a Tree With 5 Lobsters, What Would You Do..?
It's so nice being done with all my assignments. lol.
In an hour, for an hour is Earth hour, ie turn the lights off for an hour to save the environment or whatever. I remember two years ago it was a Saturday and we had YF during Earth hour and we just prayed on the stage in the old building. We prayed for boldness. I remember that. I remember CC was there and her friend. Those were the first people I remember being there. I could name off the rest of the YF, but, nah... lol.
Tonight I'm going to sing worship songs with guitar and read the Bible and just have an hour with God. I'm gonna print out some lyrics sheets using RL's computer and ya. I've got to hurry up, but ya. I'm excited.
Many people I know don't like all these 'trendy' 'raising awareness' things like not buying gas on a day to make them lower the prices. Also some people don't like environmental fads and I agreeable admit conservation biology is very biased. Save the seals, they're cute. Kill all the crazy joint-legged bug-face monsters that eat bunnies. I digress. I will use my hour for God.
Also, Quelf is an amazingly fun game. If you get the chance to, play it, and if you want to play it, you should suggest it. By the way, I don't think Chickens can catch rabbies, mosquitos don't kill you, plasmodium vivax does, sharks don't actually kill very many people and I'm sure most of the taxis in New York aren't moving fast enough to kill anyone. That just leaves poisonous snakes which are indeed quite bad for you.
Ya. *shifty eyes*

PS I just ate a bag of french fries. McDonald's dipping sauces are okay.

Take It All!!!
So, I was sitting in class and 'The Stand' gets stuck in my head, thank God. I had this terrible song stuck in my head all morning. Anyways, I went to the library to send some more support letters (via facebook) and went on youtube to listen to The Stand. Through some links I ended up on this song!
This song is amazing! Even though its half in Spanish I think that makes it way cooler! lol. I had to blog about this as soon as I heard it!
English Lyrics:
Searching the world
The lost will be found
In freedom we live
As one we cry out
You carried the cross
You died and rose again
My God
I’ll only ever give my all
You sent Your Son
From heaven to earth
You delivered us all
It’s eternally heard
I searched for truth
And all I found was You
My God
I’ll only ever give my all
Jesus we’re living for Your Name
We’ll never be ashamed of You
Whoa o oh
Our praise and all we are today
Take take take it all
Take take take it all
I'm Running to the One
Who heals the blind
I'm Following the shining light
Cause In Your hands is
The power to save the world
In my life
I found a video with the lyrics!!! (it's the same video, just with reliable lyrics. lol)

Have You Ever VIIII..?
Have you ever made a pot of Jello..? Well, I have and I'm pretty sure it is more common then my next sentence. Have you ever had a pot of jello for breakfast? I did. lol... Nothing else. Just Jello....... lol... I bought it on sale a month or two ago and there is almost nothing (except a 10lb bag of potatoes) to eat... SO, I decided to make it. It wouldn't chill fast enough, so I couldn't eat it last night.
I have been having a very limited range of meals recently. PB and Chocolate toast for breakfast, leftovers for lunch, KD or spagetti or rice for dinner. That's literally about it. Of course, its not just plain KD, or plain rice or plain spagetti, but its still a very short list of things to eat. Also, there is no more bread, so I'm gonna have to buy some soon... And on an odd, yet related note: I use my rice cooker as a slow cooker. KP pointed this out the other day. It's kinda true. I put in rice, then any vegetables I want and just cook it. Add soy sauce / chilli garlic sauce and its good to go.
Anyways, I have an essay to continue and finish by 2:20.......

God is Awesome.
Enough said, but really, I'd like to tell you about some things that have happened recently.
So, as you may know, I will be, God willing, going to East Asia this summer on a mission's project. So, I've had to prepare to, well there's no way to sugar coat this, ask people for money. Of course, that's not all I'm asking for, I mean, if I was only asking for money then I would be in it for the wrong reasons and it wouldn't be because of God. I mean we need to ask God for His provision and blessing and that the whole thing will go well, but I digress.
It is very biblical having a group of others supporting you in your ministry. All the Levite's back in the old testament relied on God's provision, Jesus sent out the disciples with nothing, Paul relied on gifts from others, etc. So, we had a Bible study the other day about that. As we were having it a pastor (well, not for a few years, but he's been called to seminary) walked over and asked if we were having a Bible study and asked if he could join us. At the time it was like, ok, random guy, that's cool. He actually barely even recognized one of the three of us, so really, he was basically a stranger to us, all of us, but ya. He really encouraged us. He was saying how it was so bold to be having a Bible study in the Unicentre and how on first impression we're really relying on God and he prayed for us and everything. I'm really glad he showed up randomly. lol.
So, ya. Today I gave my friend from Film class a support letter and she was so excited for me and said she would definitely pray for us and help me financially. I barely get to talk to her 10 minutes each week, and that is only the weeks that she comes to class and stays for the movie, but ya. It's pretty amazing how the random friendships I've made can be so encouraging and amazing. She's been talking for a while about coming to a C4C Weekly Meeting, but we haven't had too many deeper conversations, but even through texting after she got picked up we had a good conversation.
Also, I saw a bunch of kids respond to an alter call on Saturday night and give their lives to Christ. And I've made a bunch of friends and seen how important prayer is.
God is Amazing and I can't wait to see how much more He will do this summer. I hope you guys can pray for me too.
Thanks!

PS. My highschool friends are awesome too and so is Indonesia!

Back to 'Reality'..?
Hey, so as I'm sure you know, this weekend was Getaway!
It was, in two words, very good. In more than two words it sounds like I memorized a pamphlet (apparently).
I got to spend a lot of time hanging out with high school aged people and got to play a lot of worship music. I got to hear about how we can hear God's voice better and I got to see how great all the kids were. I mean grade 10 students were leading small group devotionals and were really discussing and not just sitting there. I don't think there was even a split second where something was bad. Sure the camp was a little muddy and sure it was a little cold, but it wasn't raining, it wasn't snowing, and we all could just focus on God and worshiping / listening to Him.
Late night worship was absolutely the best thing ever, even if it was kinda poorly planned. It was Spirit led and all the kids sang Not Be Shaken without even having slides up. Best thing ever Singing God's praises with all your heart at night in a big sweaty room with a large crowd. Worship songs are always so much better in person when you can feel the Spirit moving rather than in recordings.
I really dislike how I have procrastinated all this school work so that I pretty much have to do it nonstop until Friday, but then I will have more time, right? No. not really. I just need to prioritize better. God should always be at the top of my list of priorities. If I turned all my procrastinating time into God time I'd be in a much better position.
This weekend I have really felt that I should be more actively involved in ministry. I'm always just sitting back and following whoever is leading or just not putting enough work in. I'm not a high schooler anymore.
Also, I have felt that it would be amazing if SZ was more like R(?). R(?) reminds me of SZ except for the fact that I've never seen SZ talk about or carry around a Bible (not that I've heard R(?) say anything about the Bible). So, I have felt that I should pray for SZ, that he would come to know God/Jesus/the Holy Spirit in his life.
Ya, those are the two main things that I felt this weekend. Pastor Rob also was very encouraging and now I've memorized another verse. Psalm 118:17 "I will not die, but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done."
Through Jesus' death on the cross, God has taken away our sins, which lead us to death, and has given us His righteousness and the chance to know God personally, which is eternal life. I will not fall to sin, but with God's help live a life that is pleasing to Him that glorifies His name.
That's all for now I guess.

The Getaway!
So, tonight is the start of a weekend-long exciting high school retreat to camp Galilee in Arnprior and I get to go too! I'm pretty excited and I'm sure I've told you about this, but I'm feeling pretty excited as I wait here at school. When I get home I kinda have to pack though. xPPP...
In any case, I hope that God's presence would really be with us this weekend and that He really speaks to the high schoolers about who he is and that they can learn to listen more to what He is saying to them. Our theme is knowing His voice and it is something that we can all improve. God wants to speak to us and is calling out to us, but if we don't even try to listen then, He'll try harder, but we can still ignore Him if we want to. God doesn't force us to listen to Him, He gives us a choice. Some of us make this choice without even thinking about it, or sometimes the choice was made for you by your parents or those around you, but you can always change your mind.
Ya. I hope I can help out this weekend with more than just worship and be able to help the pastors and speakers or group leaders or something so that they have less stress or something. xP I'm not really in any sort of leading role this weekend, but I kinda like being the guy who does all the other stuff so that people can focus on what they have to do.
So, ya.
This weekend should be great!

手紙!
So.
Letters are so expensive. No wonder everyone loves e-mail. E-mail = fast, free, instant connection. No wasted paper / trees, no mass produced chemical polution from making them. You can just pull up the internet and with a couple clicks have a letter sent and delivered immediately. No postage. No awkward / creepy finding out people's home address, just an anonymous email address that is accesible from everywhere, anytime.
Email >> Snail Mail
Also, with email you don't have to buy 1000 envelopes when you only need about 200... >.>

To be in a place where the only reason you can see around you is because of the light of the moon.
Where the only thing to see is the stars shining brightly overhead.
To be away from the false light and technology and just lie in a field looking up at the intricate vastness that is space and see all the detailed and beautiful work of the stars in the sky.
To just not worry about day to day and just find contentment in the greatness of the universe which is so much larger and so much more complicated than what we consider busy and complicated lives.
To just be without any conditions.
To just be in awe.
To just watch the stars spin around in the sky.
To see everything that I can't see because of our short sightedness.
To see in an eternal perspective.
To see the unchanging.
To see time pass by.
But not alone.

The Clouds Over Malaysia Are Really Cute.
That is my reaction to seeing the clouds over Malaysia on Google Maps while looking for Qatar (w00t!!) and subsequently Singapore (which I have always traditionally assumed was in the Mediterranean near Italy).
Anyways, that is why I am blogging, right now, in the library, Qatar has seen my blog!
I really meant to blog yesterday. I ran out of time though.
You see, yesterday in church, Pastor DB spoke about Lent, about the varying history and how we can apply it. Lent has traditionally been a 40 day long time period where you give something up and replace it with something that will draw you closer to God. It is not simply meant as a punishment, it is not simply a time to switch vices, it can't be something that you force on someone.
So, when I was praying about it I came up with three options:
1)Give up breakfast. This was based literally off of Matthew 4:4 "Jesus answered "It is written 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'""
I eat a lot of bread. This is because of my mother who is particularlly particular about whether her sandwich bread is 'stale' or not leading to the purchase of many additional loaves of bread which I take because otherwise no one will eat them. Especially for breakfast recently I have been eating, like, 5 slices of bread with something on it (Peanut Butter, Jam, Bananas, etc.). So literally, replace the bread with reading the Bible or something.
2)Nevermind. It's not important.
3)Anime which I then felt should be all television including Friends. This is because at breakfast and other various times when I am 'bored' or otherwise decide for no reason that my studies are less important than procrastination that this is what I should do. I would be able to eat breakfast and connect with God!
Reasons against the posssibilities:
1) I am hardly eating lunch ever as it is, so giving up breakfast is either switching over to eating lunches (as if I hadn't given anything up) or starving myself by not eating anything, but dinner when I am already, probably, malnourished. Also, Saturday night I was talking to my support coach JW and he suggested I spend more time at school so I could get things done and he said that he used to go to Baker's and buy a cheap breakfast and 'have breakfast with God.' Then Sunday Pastor DB was recounting how food is a social thing and how in college because he knew nobody he would 'eat lunch with God'. I felt God was telling me to a) eat meals and b) eat them with Him. Nothing such as "you should starve", but rather the opposite..
2)forget it.
3)I have actually got to a point where anime isn't controlling my life. I only watch it during meals or when there is nothing else to do. TV however is almost always a waste of time.
I was thinking about this stuff all day and decided to ask AL about it. I told her about options 1 and 3. She asked if I had thought about option 2. I replied that I had and decided against it.
I suppose I should let you know what it is now. Option 2 is pokemon. At the thought I said "no. I just bought pokemon white on Friday. If I give it up now I will be unable to play it for what will turn into 3 months (because of EAP) and then no one will still be playing. I am going to give it up in a few weeks once I beat it."
AL asked if I had talked to God / the Holy Spirit about it.
I realized I was deliberately ignoring Him for my own selfish desires.
You know what that is? That is the general definition of sin.
I was sinning and I even kind of knew about it. I mean, when I had been playing on Friday night I had been like 'I'll play until 9 then I'll read Lev 9-10 (which I was supposed to read on the bus that morning, but ran into NB and a 16 year old gangster hiphop thug at the bus stop and ya...)' and I pushed it off for hours. On the bus I'd read the Bible as fast as possible to spend more time playing. I was playing at the C4C meeting. I was playing before / after sunday school. I was playing instead of eating the soup my dad had made. It was taking over my life and I was letting it because I wanted to play so badly, but at the same time I was feeling pretty bad about it and although I had played for 9 hours I was not in the least satisfied. yet.
I thought playing would make it better. I mean, the plot will progress, I'll catch more pokemon (especially Galvantula! I want it so badly!!!) and I will catch them all and have a sense of accomplishment.
I chose to ignore God that morning. He spoke through AL because speaking to me directly wasn't working. I was still not listening. For close to 4 hours at work I was thinking about pokemon and how I was selfishly, sinfully, stupidly, stubornly ignoring God and not making the decision to give up pokemon for lent.
The worst part of this is that I knew Lent is supposed to draw you closer to God. How can you draw closer to God while being in conscience disobedience to what He is telling me? You can't grow in your relationship with God if you are willfully living a life of sin at the same time. Sin is why we can't normally have a relationship with God. Sin is why God had to send Jesus to die on a cross (he also rose from the dead). Jesus is how we can have a relationship while having sin in the past tense. God's grace and love for us overcomes everything.
and yet, I wasn't saying yes or no even while knowing yes was the right answer.
I finally gave up. You can't beat God. So pokemon white is now, and will be for the next 40-100 days, be sitting on the shelf in my room beside my DS which I may or may not touch for an equal amount of time.
Ya.
I'll ttyl. xP

I Wish I Could Always Stay Here.
So. I want this to be quick so I can cram for my Bio midterm. I may be getting into a longish post however. xPP >.>
So, I stumbled upon (no not actually.) this song when I was trying to get a set list for worship one week and I really liked it, but I didn't think it should be in the set list. So I wrote down in a blog post draft titled "Note to Self" that I should blog about this eventually.
Can I Stay Here Forever by Starfield. The lyrics are as follows:
Through forgotten convictions
Misplaced affections
I'm losing the sound of Your voice
I've been chasing after emptiness
Trying to tidy up this mess
I swear I've been down this road before
I want to get back to where it all began
When I would long for only You
Like a child I'll take You at Your word
As these mountains of doubt, they fade away
I'm longing to trust and love You more
So for me this is beautiful
A brand new thought, and a brand new world
Can I stay here forever here with You?
I've lost sight of what first drew me
To the love that pursued me
The joy that inspired my song
The friendship that was all I knew
The arms that I would fall into
Seem miles and years from where I am today
I gotta get back to where it all began
When I would wait for only You
Can I stay here forever
Here with you?
Surrounded by Your mercy
Clothed in Your truth
Always, I'll stay
Always here with You
Can I be here forever
Here with You?
Can I know what it's like
To deeply love You?
Always, Lord, let me stay
Always, here with You
Also, we are playing this song for worship during Getaway and I really like singing it. Rediscover You by Starfield. Lyrics:
I need to just admit
my faith is paper thin
I'm feeling so burned out
On religion
I say an empty prayer
I sing a tired song
I need to just admit that the passion's gone
And I want to get it back
You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
Help me rediscover You
I want to learn to pray
The way that David prayed
I want my soul to burn when I hear Your name
I want to feel like new
I want to hunger for you
Bring me back to life like only You can do
Cause I don't want to stay the same
You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
Help me rediscover You
Lord, I want to be Yours today
I want to know the passion of the saints
And how they were changed
You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
I want to burn for You
Bring me back to life, Jesus
Help me rediscover You
Both songs express how they were passionate for Jesus and just living for God. In the first song, they ended up being drawn away by other things and started losing touch with God. In the second song, it became so much about the traditions, practices and keeping up their appearance while no longer actually connecting with God.
1. How did they ever come to know God?
"I've lost sight of what first drew me, to the love that pursued me." God loves you. God loves every person He has created. He has made each of us with a unique purpose and He loves each of us and wants us to be in a loving relationship with Him.
2. Why did they ever leave this relationship if they had come into relationship with Him?
Everyone has fallen short of the glory of God. The original reason and most of the reasons since then is that we get so focused on ourselves and satisfying our own desires by our own means that we lose sight of the fact that God provides for us and instead go our own way. The thing is, God created us with free will. This is amazing. He could have forced us to follow Him, but if we so desire, he will let us do as we wish. However, disobeying Him and seeking to fulfill our desires separates us from Him. "I've been chasing after emptiness / Trying to tidy up this mess" Things like lusting over women, or seeking to be popular to try and substitute for the hole where God was in our hearts doesn't work. We were built to have Him in our lives.
3. Can we get back to a relationship with God on our own?
The answer is no. Nothing we can do can reconnect us. There are a few main ways that people try to get back to God by becoming 'more holy' in various ways, such as doing good works, religion or philosophies. As it says in the second song he confesses about how empty religion is "I'm feeling so burned out on religion, I say an empty prayer, I sing a tired song" but it's not the same, it's not a real relationship with God.
4. So how do we get back into a relationship with God?
In the songs they sing of getting back to where they were or rediscovering Him, so it must be possible. The answer is in God's love for us. While we were still going our own way separated by our own decision, God took it on Himself to come to us and even then He was rejected. God gave His only son on the cross so that we can have a relationship with Him. The effect of going our own way, the payment for that is death. Only through Jesus' death have our past actions been erased so that we can enter a relationship with God again if we so desire.
5. Jesus died, so I'm good now, right?
Well, yes and no. Yes, He did die, but you can't just know this and then BAM! without doing anything your life is fine. Jesus also came back to life and that has to be reflected in what we do as well. We were dead in our sins, but alive in Jesus. We can't continue living separated from God, that's what got us where we were. You have to put your trust in the fact that He did this for you and ask Him to be a part of your life. This isn't a one time thing. Every Christian ends up going back to the way they were at some point. It's a challenge sometimes, why else would there be so many songs about it? But the thing is, when you turn away again, you turn right back and continue to trust God for what He does in your life.
6. So, how do I ask Jesus to come into my life, and what does that mean?
The way we talk to God is in prayer. But just praying without your heart in it means nothing. The words don't matter as long as you truly mean them. The amazing thing is that God always listens to us when we pray to Him. The following is a sample prayer that you can pray, but you can say whatever you think you need to.
Part two of the question: What it means is that Jesus will be in your life and with you always. You will be filled with the Holy Spirit and will be able to live an empowered life to live the way God intended.
Sample Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. I'm sorry for going my own way and trying to find my own path. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door to my life and ask you to be my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen.
7. Now what?
Now you are filled with the Holy Spirit and are in a relationship with Jesus. All your past sins have been forgiven and you have just started a long journey. "As these mountains of doubt, they fade away, I'm longing to trust and love You more". There will be times when you doubt, but if you truly seek, you will find God's truth and love for you wipe away the doubts. There's always room to grow closer to God, it's not an instant process. I still have a long way to go. The best way to start growing in your relationship is by exploring God's word, the Bible, and see what He has done for you. I advise starting in the book of John. You should also pray regularly. No relationship grows if only one person is doing the talking. You should also get to know some other people who trust in God by joining a Bible study or going to a church.
Also, if you have just accepted Christ into your life, please message me. =D I'm super excited about this. Leave a comment, or you can email me: dylan.dfa@gmail.com

PS. There is a lot more I could tell you about God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
PPS. Starfield is pretty cool.
So, I stumbled upon (no not actually.) this song when I was trying to get a set list for worship one week and I really liked it, but I didn't think it should be in the set list. So I wrote down in a blog post draft titled "Note to Self" that I should blog about this eventually.
Can I Stay Here Forever by Starfield. The lyrics are as follows:
Through forgotten convictions
Misplaced affections
I'm losing the sound of Your voice
I've been chasing after emptiness
Trying to tidy up this mess
I swear I've been down this road before
I want to get back to where it all began
When I would long for only You
Like a child I'll take You at Your word
As these mountains of doubt, they fade away
I'm longing to trust and love You more
So for me this is beautiful
A brand new thought, and a brand new world
Can I stay here forever here with You?
I've lost sight of what first drew me
To the love that pursued me
The joy that inspired my song
The friendship that was all I knew
The arms that I would fall into
Seem miles and years from where I am today
I gotta get back to where it all began
When I would wait for only You
Can I stay here forever
Here with you?
Surrounded by Your mercy
Clothed in Your truth
Always, I'll stay
Always here with You
Can I be here forever
Here with You?
Can I know what it's like
To deeply love You?
Always, Lord, let me stay
Always, here with You
Also, we are playing this song for worship during Getaway and I really like singing it. Rediscover You by Starfield. Lyrics:
I need to just admit
my faith is paper thin
I'm feeling so burned out
On religion
I say an empty prayer
I sing a tired song
I need to just admit that the passion's gone
And I want to get it back
You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
Help me rediscover You
I want to learn to pray
The way that David prayed
I want my soul to burn when I hear Your name
I want to feel like new
I want to hunger for you
Bring me back to life like only You can do
Cause I don't want to stay the same
You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
Help me rediscover You
Lord, I want to be Yours today
I want to know the passion of the saints
And how they were changed
You told me
Look for You and I will find
So I'm here
Like I'm searching for the first time
Revive me, Jesus
Make this cold heart start to move
I want to burn for You
Bring me back to life, Jesus
Help me rediscover You

I have been saved.
So, ya.
Today was a major stress and I would be dead right now if it were not for a few people.
If you would like to skip that giant beast of a paragraph, feel free to, but it has a lot of the details of how I am still alive and more specifics, I think... xP
I woke up this morning at 6am knowing full well that I had barely scratched the surface of a 12 page bio lab. I went to bed at 12 knowing that my computer hates me and would not allow microsoft office to work. So, on the off chance that my housemates had left one of their laptops on the main floor I woke up early (This is in direct contradiction to one of my 'resolutions' I posed back in January to not borrow without asking that I still have not been doing... I have borrowed tweezers, tooth paste, laptops, guitars, ice cream, a bedroom, CD player, printer, laundry basket, frozen vegetables, margarine, towel, a matress, a blanket, herbs, a laptop charging cable thing, an xbox, a device for shaving, ummm I don't know what else... but I digress. This is in paratheses.) in an attempt to borrow one of their laptops. Since this did not happen, I quickly tried to do some of the Intro for my lab on a draft for a blog post (which I don't think will be posted..? o.0) because it could be transferred between computers. In any case I run off to school on the bus. I get to the computer lab in Steacie building and holed myself up there until everything was done. At 10:30 my support coach for East Asia PRoject was going to call me and talk for like half an hour. He was too busy, Thank God. I had been budgeting my time, kinda, and I knew that at 1 I'd be kicked out for a class that uses the lab. It was like 1:20 and still I was there. Thank God. lol. I was not done yet and relocating wouldn't have sped up the process. So, I thought I'd need like 5 minutes maybe to get to class (starting at 1:30) and so when 1:30 passed I was like dang, I'm gonna need to finish ASAP. Going as fast as possible I managed to finish to a satisfactory level and went to print it. Guess what? PRINTER JAM! WHAT!??! I spent 4$ on a printer jam! with only 1$ left on my campus card, ie not enough to actually pay for the new copy I'd have to buy at another printer somewhere.......... On top of which it was now 1:40 and I think that 'if you are more than 15 minutes late to a lab you cannot enter' and must do a make-up or fail or something. So with all this stress (because I had no idea how to unjam the printer which is locked in a plexiglas cage with a padlock) I suddenly thought of the Integrated Science Centre room or whatever it is that DK had shown me only once before. You just (as an integrated science student which I am not) bring paper to the room and you can print (double sided is an option) for FREE! So I ran off there (and just so happened to leave my laptop charging cable there, as I have just found out at 9pm.) and freaked out because I was so late.... I then had to ask to borrow paper from people I don't know. This girl gave me some. I rushed to print everything. I got to about the 5th last page and no one in the room had any more paper. I had to ask again and they told me to ask one of the profs or whatever they are that have rooms in that hall. The woman the next door over gave me a huge pile of paper. So, I managed to print it all. Thank God. I then sprint to the bio lab. I got there just as the lab coordinator was finishing describing how to do the lab that I had not prepared for at all. My lab partner has been, no offense, utterly useless in helping me with the labs. I mean she just doesn't get things very quickly. I'm sure if I got to know her better we would be in a better situation. In anycase, this week we were in groups of four, thank God, and they seemed to know what they were doing. Not really, but it gave me time to figure out what we were doing. lol. This lab had no actual experimentation, so it was a really quick lab. Thank God. I had earlier planned to work on my resume with CW in Rooster's after my lab, so I ran off to there. I needed this resume ASAP for a summer job that I was already a week behind in applying for and now that I had sent an email and He had responded I really had to send a resume. CW is like the best older brother ever. Thank God that he is in my life. lol.. He has been really useful for a lot of things. Not only because he is in English and that is my worst subject, but also in encouraging me in my walk with God and just everything. So, we (he) worked on that for like an hour and a half. I then ate breakfast (5:30pm a few granola bars). CW left to go home and study. Then I realized I had like 15 minutes until my bio lab was due (electronic submission in addition to the hard copy, I know really..?) so I ran off to the computer lab again and did that. Thank God CW left... lol we could have been there another hour. Anyways, I had been planning on helping SC with his Japanese film that night. I was gonna skip Discipleship group and just help him. He ended up being too sick. That is too bad, but in a way, I got to go to DG and hear the end of the prodigal son parable and I learned some neat things. more about prodigal son later maybe, summary, younger brother takes inheiritance from his father who isn't dead yet and wastes it all. He comes back ready to beg to be a slave because they live well enough. His dad comes running to him when he comes home and prepares the fatted calf for a celebration. The older brother who had been working hard for years is kinda confused, jealous, angry among other things that he never had a young goat to celebrate with his friends. Their dad comforts him by saying that everything he has is his son's and that it is good to celebrate because the younger brother was dead but is now alive again, he was lost but now is found. Thank God that I got to go to DG and just hang out with MW, DJ, CV, RM and DL. I havn't actually been to DG/C4C in like a couple weeks and can't go on Friday either, so I thought it might be kinda like I'm dropping out or something. In any case they really encouraged me. God too. I mean I had never thought about it that way. I'm just no good at individual Bible study, I mostly just read. So, ya. I went off to my parents for dinner. Free leftovers, thank God. Then JW finally called and I talked for a while and used the computer my brother had been using for his Anthro project until I high-jacked it. There is a lot of stuff I need to do ASAP for project. I mean if I don't do anything, then I definately can't go right..? Anyways, I am now at home borrowing JK's charging cable for my laptop. It's a good thing they are interchangeable, thank God. Also, after thought: Thank God I didn't have work this morning. >.>
So, summary: I made a lot of plans for today. Things I thought would be good. Prioritizing because it was on my schedule of things to do, and guess what. Most if not all of those plans fell through, but for the best. God's plan for my life is far better than mine. Thank God that he is on our side. If we were His enemies it would be like trying to swim up a waterfall. It's not gonna happen. But because He loves us and is patient with us He overlooks our selfishness and helps us to do what He wants us to do. He gently calls us back. He will never force you to do something against your will. If anything had been different today I would be in a Much worse position than I am. I know that there is a lot to do this week, but with God's help I will be able to pull through and get to where I am supposed to be, where God wants me to be.
God has saved me from my sins and has helped me continue moving forward.
(I already have 50 names on this piece of paper. Just because the average age is around 18 is kinda sketchy though.... lol.)

The Past / Present / Future
So, right now I still haven't done much of the stuff I need to do immediately, but I did do one thing. I applied to be a facil next year. Then I found out there was an interview. lol...
It turns out that the interview is the same day as Getaway ends. My interview is at 5 and we get back 'around 4'... sketchy. Also, I'm now thinking, what if I haven't had a shower all weekend..? >.>
Ya, I went 'sharing' with CW today. I use quotations because it didn't really end up being too spirtual, more just talking, but that's cool. lol. I found out that KG goes to church. I should talk to him more in the future about the gospel and the spirit filled life and tell him about C4C and stuff. lol.
Also, today I went to my parents, had dinner, and went to watch my brother and a number of other people his age play Jazz in Kanata. I miss playing trombone. and yet it is still under my bed... They did pretty well.
Ya.
Ttyl. xP A day full of worship tomorrow! Awesome!

Random Stuff
So, I still have a lot of things to do. And they are all at the top of a 'I should do this immediately' list. In other word they should all be done by now, but are not... Applying to be a facil for orientation next year, writing up my resume for summer job applications, doing my bio lab, etc.
And, so I have played google chrome bounceball, watched pokemon, watched friends, just wasted a lot of time in general.
I don't really like Dragon Ball all that much. Also, filming a movie that doesn't have a script yet in the dark in winter is very sketchy. I don't know why, but it's just so much easier for me to act like the bad guy.
I put my Paramore CDs on my cell phone. xP I'm jazzed about this. lol
SC thinks that there is no way that I can get my school work done with my schedule being the way it is. I would have to agree. I should be mega super failing everything, but somehow I'm doing well, I guess.
Anyways, I really don't have anything to talk about.
lol... My internet died when I was about to post this (I meant to post it four days ago... xP), so, ya... lol

Reading Week?
You see, this last week I set out to do a lot of work that I was behind on. I had formed a large list of things I should do in my head before it started, but didn't really do all of it...
Did I read?
I guess I read a bit. A couple chapters of Bio, a few chapters of math, not much else. lol
Did I finish my labs that were due this week?
No.
Did I do the prelabs for this week?
Mostly.
Did I look over my Japanese textbook?
No.
Did I hang out with all my old High School firends?
Maybe some of them, not all of them though... (I didn't give VB a spinning hug though... >.>)
Did I write my resume..?
No.
Did I write my support letter for East Asia Project?
Not really.
Did I waste a lot of time?
Yes. So much time... I even cleaned RL's room instead of doing my own work. lol And now for the over exagerated before and after shots.
Before:

After:

Also, just for fun, I color coded his closet! xP

That was the main part of my week, living in RL's room (except for sleeping of course). His room was cleaner than mine... >.> BUT JK's was way worse than mine, so I was ok with my room. lol

A Week Later
So, I guess I survived a week without a laptop of my own and without constant internet access. I suppose this means that I do have my laptop back. That is correct.
Also, it seems that I have made another decision and my housemates have all been making plans around it and it seems settled. In any case I really shouldn't finalize decisions on my blog.
Also, I am in the process of writing my support letter for East Asia Project. I don't really have anyone to send it to though... The only people I've thought of sending it to my neighbours and coworkers.
Ya. So, while I have been unable to or rather just not willing to spend my very few and far between minutes with internet on blogger I have had to take a couple notes for later blogging.
1. Just because there is no 'porn' doesn't mean there is no sin. Especially when you are trying your hardest to do good works for God, the devil will be trying just as hard to stop you and get you down. In our weakness, God's greatness is made perfect. I mean we try so hard to be better than we are, but we fall flat on our faces over and over again, but God, Jesus, even though He was in our place, He never fell to temptation.
2. I really like it when I'm reading the Old Testament and I read a passage that has been turned into a song I know. xP
Isaiah 35:3-4 Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you."
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I m ay dwell in the house of the Lord all of the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.
I mean often when reading the OT I just don't relate very well with it. The last like 10 chapters of Exodus were all the exact measurements for how to build the tabernacle and that clothes Aaron would wear.
Anyways, I'm back I guess. Oh. lol. I will post about my reading week tommorow or something.
