Hey there. :P
So, take this with a grain of salt, but the other day I was thinking about smiling. I feel so awkward walking down the street and smiling at people now. It's like my face has forgotten the muscles it needs to use to get a genuine smile across. My primary thought on the subject has merely been that since we've been wearing masks all day at work we've been trying to show our smiles with the tops of our cheeks so much that like we've reprogrammed our mind to almost only focus on the cheeks. Which, I think, is pretty fair. But then I thought, what if we've just forgotten how to genuinely smile because we've forgotten genuine happiness?
Oooooooof.
To be fair, a lot of people have been struggling and suffering alone in isolation. People were never meant to live in isolation like this. People need other people. People need casual time with friends to be able to really vent and pour out their deepest thoughts and emotions. Some people really need a friend to talk to just to even process their own thoughts on various things. Isolation sucks. Big time. And like, I'm fairly extroverted, so I can't really speak into the more introverted side of it. But I hate unending isolation.
Last summer I had essentially 4 weeks of isolation back to back. I had booked off 2 weeks for "vacation" to stay at home the weeks before my mom's birthday, so I could go visit her and like not worry about bringing the virus as an unintended birthday surprise. ;P Plot twist: one of my coworkers at Starbucks reported that they had a cough. So one day it's like 3 pm and some customers are saying our mobile ordering system isn't working. Ok. that's weird. Then my manager comes in (not scheduled) and locks the door behind him. The store was closing immediately and we were all going home so the sanitizing company could come in and spray it all down. Be at home and wait for a call. So, I got to isolate for 2 weeks because this coworker had a cough. I'd have one day of freedom and then my 2 week staycation would happen. I literally only saw my roommate for 4 weeks. I knit an entire blanket while watching the entire LOST series, the full Man in the High Castle series, and a bunch of other stuff. But anyways, my point was, I got through it. But it sucked. It still kinda does. I really like my new roommates, so far anyways, but I barely see them.
Basically all I do these days is work, sleep, eat, go to the gym, watch anime, watch way too much Youtube, watch too much tiktok. Like, there's nothing meaningful. What brings me real joy these days? These are all distractions that give a glimpse of escape. Youtube or twitch or whatever, I feel the main appeal is like having a new friend you get to know through the videos. Through Sykkuno, Among Us, 5up, and the Hafu lobby, I ended up discovering Steven Suptic. I've listened to a bunch of his music, watched so many of his Among Us gameplay videos, and like gotten to know him as a person. I want to be his friend. He's a bit strange sometimes, and apparently has a war with his roommates over the placement of the toilet paper in the bathroom, but he seems very interesting. Some random guy on the other side of the continent. Why do I know about his roommate conflicts? It's fake friendship. And friendship is where a lot of people find their true joy in life. Serving others. Listening to their thoughts and dreams. Laughing together as you play a game or watch a movie. Sharing life.
There's no sharing life in isolation. And turning inwards you just find all the worst parts of yourself.
Where was I going with all this again?
I miss the little things. But I'm also currently, like, scared of the old world. Idk. Am I happy these days? Am I accomplishing anything?
Also yo. So annoying. The most annoying or difficult customers always come by the store when I'm not there. I've been trying so hard to get into a mindset where I can put myself into the situations and protect my coworkers, but I never get the chance. :( I always just end up hearing about how terrible this or that was afterwards while I'm at home.
I feel like I'm just waiting. But I don't know what for.
I got a Frappuccino on my way home from the gym and two of my favourite baristas were there (I don't have favourites. ok. for the record.). They complimented the shirt I was wearing. :P That made me happy.
I guess we just gotta look for those little things and move forward, eh?
Ttyl.

PS. Here's one of Steve Suptic's songs I like the most right now:

I was offered a Gatorade, so I guess it's okay.
When you are a mover, as I learned from Seinfeld, you are supposed to be offered a drink. One guy actually did offer us some of his gatorades.
Anyways, today I had a whole day, whole body workout. This was accomplished by day 1 of students moving into residence at Carleton. Frosh Facils apparently bond and cheer and act over the top this weekend in preparation for frosh week. Well, actually, the majority of people in res are frosh, so this is technically frosh week now. >.>
So. The way this worked was I woke up early, walked to school, waited at the meeting place, and then the day began. We would all eagerly await the cars that would pull up. Then we'd chant 'Pop That Trunk!' with claps on the words. Cheer enthusiastically as it popped open. Ask where it was going, then take an armful of stuff. Drag it up the stairs, or wait for the elevator (in which case we'd practice being sardines. literally sealed and packaged with oil) and get to their door. We'd then have a drum roll as they reach for their keys and go to swipe. As it opens, more enthusiastic cheering. Welcoming and kind words as we unload and leave. Run down the stairs. Redo.
At the start of the day I was not happy about being there. I was not happy about not knowing anyone on my team.
Hauling massive amounts of clothes, water bottles and various other stuff all over the res was a lot of fun. I went to Prescott, Renfrew, Lanark, Frontenac and Leeds! When I went to Leeds (which is on the other side of the campus basically) it was to help an international student from India who had just got to school from the airport after a 36 hour flight! I'm really glad that Carleton has an ISC to help International Students.
Umm. Ya. By the end of the day I was so pumped to be out there and just meet these first year students! I'm really glad I have signed up for the Language Exchange Program and the Orientation Mentorship Program! I'm really excited to get out there and start mentoring and maybe even discipling first year guys!
I also got to see three of my friends and help them move in. DK, SC and CC.
Anyways, I need to sleep again. I also need to buy books eventually... >.> When? Who knows. >.>
Ttyl.

PS. I think it's pretty awesome that I didn't burn out today. 9 hours of hard labour and having a smile on my face the whole time. I didn't have breakfast either. lol. Thank God for getting me through it!
PPS. My mom is going home tomorrow. Pray for her. She's going to be very weak. She's been in a bed for nearly two weeks. Very thankfully, however, she is going home and the whole problem with [prescription/over the counter] drugs and stuff is worked out and she should be way better off than she was before.

Thunder Storms and Pasta
So, yesterday.
Yesterday started off with me waking up at 5 am. Guess why? Thunderstorm! Yay! But the coolest thing was that the power was out and that the storm was practically directly above us (which I later realized isn't as cool as I thought, or maybe it is..?)!!!! So, it was just like nonstop flashes of light outside my window! You couldn't see the lightning, just the light, rain was pouring, all my housemates were awake (RL was at his parents) and JR ran outside... lol... After about half an hour the lights turned back on and I realized how silent and dark it was a moment earlier. I mean, now there were all these little things buzzing and a bunch of small flashing lights and ya... I went back to sleep, but kept my phone on to wake me up. I later read a facebook status "Somebody must have been playing Song of Storms over and over last night..." lol.
I woke up at like 9:30 and just lay in bed until 10. I just didn't want to do any work. I still don't, but yesterday was my last day before my week of exams started, so I should have started the cramming.
At 10 I talked with my EAP support coach. He doesn't like how I don't really answer questions.
I then had breakfast/lunch and watched anime.
I then wasted like an hour and a half drawing a diagram to represent my support raising for project. I drew block letters of EAP on graph paper with each block being 50$ I need to raise. It took me a long time to figure out how big to draw the letters and then to colour it in with the support I have so far, colour coded to each person, and then I accidentally did it wrong and I admit it was a huge waste of time.
I knew I should have been cramming for my CHEM exam today, but no... I kept wasting time.
I studied for a couple hours while playing songs by Two Door Cinema Club over and over and over again and then I ran off to my new house to have a meal with my new housemates. I saw CL and MC on the bus.
There was a lot of raised voices at my new house, mostly caused by me and the whole 'splitting a room in half' business and how that effects the rent. It seems that DK, CW and JS 'debate' quite a bit. In any case, CW prepared a pasta meal for us and we all had some with light dinner conversation. Following that we had a 'house meeting' to address issues with common areas and chores and just things in general. The last topic raised was really awkward. It was DK bringing up the fact that we don't tell each other that we love each other as much as we should. He argued that as Christians we should be more loving because we know a bit more about real love through Jesus among other reasons. The most awkward point (debatably) was when he said he could easily write more about what makes each of us special then he can for a school paper.
They tried wrapping up the meeting quickly so that I could go home and study, but the things I saw were that a) they do love each other, b) they pray with each other, c) they don't hold back anything from being discussed. These are all things I wish I saw more of at my house. I have yet to see a couple of my housemates pray.
Ya, when I got home I watched a couple episodes of Modern Family with everyone. It's a good show that always has a moral, warm and fuzzy ending.
Ya. So I wasted all of yesterday. Then this morning I woke up at 6:50 and did everything quickly so that I could go and then I decide to clean out my closet. >.> Ya. Wasted a half hour making a pile of clothes I don't want to / havn't been wearing that I can get rid of because I really have only been wearing like 8 shirts and there were like 25-30 in my closet. The first step in moving is to get rid of everything that is useless to you.
Ya. CHEM exam asian fail. Probably.

Random Stuff
So, I still have a lot of things to do. And they are all at the top of a 'I should do this immediately' list. In other word they should all be done by now, but are not... Applying to be a facil for orientation next year, writing up my resume for summer job applications, doing my bio lab, etc.
And, so I have played google chrome bounceball, watched pokemon, watched friends, just wasted a lot of time in general.
I don't really like Dragon Ball all that much. Also, filming a movie that doesn't have a script yet in the dark in winter is very sketchy. I don't know why, but it's just so much easier for me to act like the bad guy.
I put my Paramore CDs on my cell phone. xP I'm jazzed about this. lol
SC thinks that there is no way that I can get my school work done with my schedule being the way it is. I would have to agree. I should be mega super failing everything, but somehow I'm doing well, I guess.
Anyways, I really don't have anything to talk about.
lol... My internet died when I was about to post this (I meant to post it four days ago... xP), so, ya... lol

NYE Part 4
... of Time Ever. XPPP....
I didn't really have a costume. I just wore shorts and a short sleeved shirt with no foot wear. It was kinda awkward walking by the wedding xPPPPPP....
Ya, when we got to the party there was dancing and video games and food and human foosball and a whole bunch of stuff. It was all decorated with blue and green and the projector screens had aquaticly themed pictures and there was a beach ball flying around and there were some very intersting costumes such as spongebob, sushi, a shark, a stingray, an oyster, jelly fish, pirates, the navy, a whole bunch of stuff.
We danced for a while and then we prayed and sang songs with the band and prayed and sang some more and danced some more.
The party ended at 1am and I got to my room at 1:40. TB apparently likes the show "Auction Kings" so we watched that until 2 then we went to sleep.
I awoke and thought I should find out what time it was before going back to sleep. It was 8:15. No more sleeping... XP

Kate Plus 8
So, I just had a really weird dream. xP
It was about the show "Kate Plus 8". Okay. Laugh at me. xP... I used to watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 with my Mom and brother. Half asian babies are really cute.
Anyways, if you didn't know, they got a divorce and all that jazz. As far as I know the new show "Kate plus 8" is still airing..?
It wasn't a really long dream. The dream had two main focus points. 1) That there are giant menacing spiders all over their home, just because that's normal where their house is. I mean like giant scary spiders that pounce on you, stab you, inject you with poison and then drink all your blood. The second point was that all of the kids can play a different instrument. They all filed out of the front door, sat on the porch and played a song. There was a tuba, a baritone, a violin, a clarinet, an oboe, and I think there was a trumpet. They played a short song and it was pretty good.
I then woke up just in time to tel RL good luck and realize that the kids probably aren't old enough to play Tuba... xP
Weird... xP

Blessings
Hey!
I should sleep soon, so I will attempt to make this quick while properly getting my point across. Here goes. xP
Tonight, no, today was really cool. Honestly I needed a break from school. Today I went to a missions conference thingee at church. There were speakers from our congregations as well as other organizations that our church is associated with (including C4C! xP ). I missed the epic project party last night ( C4C missions projects party thing. xP) and I really wanted to go. There would be a lot of info about what projects are, which projects are available, how you can get involed, etc. and I am kinda very somewhat interested in projects. >.> I can / will learn more at WC.
Anyways, this week I was asked if I could be a replacement worship team leader, and although I did not say yes, I did not say no either... xP even though it was definately not possible........ xP Like I could go to the practice and church on Sunday, but I did not have time this week to get the setlist together... I ended up staying after the missions thingee and being on worship team (bass/vocals) because it was right after. By the way, I am not really very good at singing in Mandarin (I was about to type 'Chinese' then realized I was not singing in 'Chinese' but mandarin. I wasn't even reading chinese. I was reading pinyin..?).
Me and CW played this really cool song after practice. NC did not like the way I was playing bass. I did. =DDDDDDD (in other words: really wide smile.)
Anyways, I got a ride home (I blogged at that point) and then had instant noodles while watching 'Family Guy' with RL.
I then went to MHS's production "6 Characters in Search of an Author". It was pretty cool. I like knowing people in the play. xP At the play I got to see a bunch of people I knew. A BUNCH including VB, JC, NJ, KFA, LT, JB, SD, DS, AS, MU, JT, MB, EG, FS, SS, JB, CN, PN, CW, TM, CB, DB, OD, EB, NW, MC, CK, and a bunch of other people. Almost all of the above people are / were drama people. This means that I was interacting in the way I would normally interact with drama people (a bit differently than the way I normally interact with people).
This combined with being asked earlier "If you could be any age for the rest of your life what would it be?" and thinking about how awesome grade 12 was, it made me really miss highschool / highschool drama. It's just so much more relaxed in highschool. xP However, if it were not for the fact that I live beside MHS, in a house in which I can bring over as many people as I want at whatever hour I want, and that I have a housemate that had Toy Story 3, this night would not have been nearly as amazing.
After the play, me, VB, CB and JC came over to my house (instead of crashing the cast party (50:50 chance and JC's coin chose movie)) to watch Toy Story 3. (TOTORO!!!!!!!! OMG!) It is pretty amazing. I havn't seen Toy Story in a while. I feel like I was in Elementary School when I saw Toy Story 2..?
Anyways, the point of this blog was to point out that I have rerealized that I really am blessed in a number of complicated ways that make an even bigger bunch of blessings. How I have been blessed:
-Amazing time at MHS
--many friends
--drama
--music
--just in general
-a semi-steady income which pays for
--band trips
--rent which means I have
---a house to which I can invite friends over
---housemates
-Church
--YF/ YA
--Camping Trips
--Missions Trip
--older and younger brothers/sisters
-C4C
--experiencing the mission of the church first hand.
-a number of other things I have forgotten at the moment... xP
So, ya. I'm in a good mood right now. xP
Ttyl.

P.S. Do you want to go for a sandwich..?
P.P.S. Someone got engaged this week. I am very happy for him. It's like he's my older brother.
I should sleep soon, so I will attempt to make this quick while properly getting my point across. Here goes. xP

So, ya...
The other day (Thursday) was our graduation ceremony, you know, the one where everyone walks across the stage and gets their diploma..? The ceremony started at 10 and went until 12:20 or so. It was in our gym... ie. it was super mega way too hot... xP especially if you are wearing a suit under a cap and gown surrounded by another thousand or so hot sweaty people clapping and waiting for their children to get to the stage at which time they run to the front with cameras and take like 20 blurry pictures of their child accepting a piece of paper that says "good for one diploma with return of gown", while texting one of your friends who to your surprise wasn't there.
Then we went to the cafetorium for the reception, ie the place where all the people dying of heat stroke and exhaustion go to drink PC Sparkling Lemonade that has been pumped through a drink fountain until it no longer sparkles and eat maple leaf shaped cookies or mini cupcakes with edible diploma and cap shaped frosting while everyone takes a million pictures (especially YC) and everyone says "Are you going to prom tommorow?|" excitedly until I say "no, I'm going to Montreal" at which time they then say "Well... have a good life" or "Well... See ya." dryly... >.>
So, ya... My parents couldn't stand the heat or the person beside them, so they left pretty much immediately after I crossed the stage. Well, whatever. The funny thing was that my brother's girlfriend was there, but not my brother...
So, Ya... After that I decided to cut up the dragonfruit I had bought and the star fruit I had bought on Wednesday. The dragonfruit was kinda bland... The starfruit, although not bland, was kinda too sour... xP anyway... here are some pictures!!!

Ya, weird eh..?
Anyways, later that same day was the final playoff softball game before the championship on Saturday. Each of the other teams had a win in the playoffs, so we needed this to even have a chance, we also needed to win by quite a bit because it would come down to the number of runs determining who moves on if we win. It had rained earlier and so the game was moved to another field. Everyone was there and we played a great game. We ended up winning by about 5 runs. We didn't win by enough, but it doesn't matter that much. Winning is fun and all, but being on a team that can grow and improve together while all being friends and fighting through the challenges is way cooler. In the end our team only had two wins... our first and last games of the season, but it was cool to win our last game.
So, ya...

P.S. "Hey AL, registering for university courses is pretty hard... probably as hard if not harder than getting a girlfriend, but I don't have a girlfriend, so I don't know how hard that can be..."

So. Ya.
Today is Tuesday.
First of all, MY HAIR IS GONE! Yay! So, I was talking to a friend on the way home from school and I think I was behaving slightly irrationally about my hair... xP Sorry. But now it's Gone! But now its really short... hmmm. We'll see.
Oh, I got cut from the baseball team. That's not necessarily a bad thing... I mean my life is busy enough and I wasn't all that great in the try-outs. Like, some of the other guys were super competative and Way better then me. xP Anyways, now I can focus on the other pressing issues in my life such as the musical, or physics projects, or japanese projects, or other things... I'm going to play softball this year with the Parkwood Hills Softball Association anyways, and that's way more fun, so I'm not upset at all. Apparently MR is playing this year too, so I hope I'm on her team, it will be fun. xP
So, ya. I kinda want new glasses and / or contacts. Glasses really are annoying sometimes... Mine are pretty scratched now.. xP I think it's actually more painful wearing them then not wearing them... I actually get 30% off at hakim optical as a union benefit, so why not use it..?
Oh, my foot is kinda bugging me.. Since after last Thursday my (looks at hands) right foot has been bugging me. Like, it hurts when I bend my toes. When I put my hand on the top of my foot and move my toes I can feel this viscous semi-liquid moving and then I feel really weird.. xP. I don't like blood btw... like I can see the veins in my arm, and you can like press down on them with your thumb at the elbow then slide your thumb up to your wrist then watch the blood rush down and feel it too. I get the same uneasy sensation from feeling the liquid in my foot move. xP It's probably just bruised and the clotted blood is the semi-liquid, but it's really bugging me.. xP
So, I just watched Glee for the first time. It was being advertised all over animecrazy.net for some reason, so I ended up watching it... xP It's a really weird show. I will not be making time for it in my regular schedule. I actually fell asleep near the end of it. The main appeal of the show to me was that Rachael (I don't know how to spell Racheal btw) looks exactly like this girl at my school (HRD). She's actually leader of the Gleeks at MHS and has the same range and I swear they have the same face. The thing about the show is that it's really shallow. So I start watching the show and Racheal is Finn's girlfriend or whatever, I don't know why, but Finn doesn't really care. So, a couple cheerleaders ask Finn out and he immediately breaks up with Racheal. About a minute later she's really angry and sings "Gives You Hell" by the AAR. Right after the song she just happens to meet this other guy and now they are a couple, but they are the leaders of the glee clubs at different schools, so the whole glee club tells her to break up with him or quit the glee club. It really made very little sense and was way too compacted. I am not a Gleek.
Tommorow Sr. Concert band and Dixie band are playing a gig at Bethel Pentecostal. We miss the afternoon of school and get free food. I will probably blog about band tommorow.
Anyways, I want to sleep, so, ttyl.
