NYE Part 4

... of Time Ever. XPPP....

I didn't really have a costume. I just wore shorts and a short sleeved shirt with no foot wear. It was kinda awkward walking by the wedding xPPPPPP....

Ya, when we got to the party there was dancing and video games and food and human foosball and a whole bunch of stuff. It was all decorated with blue and green and the projector screens had aquaticly themed pictures and there was a beach ball flying around and there were some very intersting costumes such as spongebob, sushi, a shark, a stingray, an oyster, jelly fish, pirates, the navy, a whole bunch of stuff.

We danced for a while and then we prayed and sang songs with the band and prayed and sang some more and danced some more.

The party ended at 1am and I got to my room at 1:40. TB apparently likes the show "Auction Kings" so we watched that until 2 then we went to sleep.

I awoke and thought I should find out what time it was before going back to sleep. It was 8:15. No more sleeping... XP

Swingin' Into the Night

So, ya.

Since I last posted we have had dinner, walked back, had main session, prayed, then swing danced.

The main session's focus tonight was on Quebec and how only 0.8% or so of the 10.2 million people are evangelical Christians. A very small percentage of people. Through varying things said by the speaker or other people there was this urge placed on having a heart for Quebec, moving to Quebec, praying for Quebec, etc. The main message had a lot to do with just making the little time we have left make a difference. There were many stats about how we could reach the whole world within the next 10 years and other things like that.

I just kinda started getting really sad thinking about how my faith was so small. This was most clear when she started speaking of how our job isn't going to be easy, but you know, the lord will give us everything we need. I know these things are true and I have said / prayed a number of times a number of things, but had I really meant them..? Was I really ready to step out and do hard work. I felt like such a coward and a hypocrite and a very faithless person thinking that I would rather just curl up in my safe little bubble instead of taking everything we have learned and making a difference.

I think that I prayed as sincerely as I ever have that God would stengthen my trust in Him in the coming semester and summer as I make larger steps of faith and break more faith barriers. Sure, it would be easy to just stay where we are in our safety, but that's such a waste. It's boring, not making progress, not doing as God has commanded us. I pray that I would be able to surrender in all situations and just rely on His hope and love and goodness to provide for me. Fear and insecurity should not exist if I am truly relying on the Lord.

So, ya. I prayed with HO, RM, R(?) and J(?).

Then I went swing dancing. xP So fun dancing. I havn't danced since the Musical. NJ was my partner then, but today I had like 20 partners (they made us switch everytime we learned something new, which was slightly annoying, but we got to meet so many new people...) It was a lot of fun. xP

On an unrelated note, have you ever been reminded of someone based more on the shape of the person than their actual personality..? xP I have been seeing people all week that look the same (mostly) as some people I know. These people include RM(high school friend), JB, JC(parcour/tiger suit), Dr. JS and HK(male). xP

Ya.

I've been coming up with new years resolutions. So far I have:
-I will tell people when I borrow things from them
-I will answer people when they ask me questions
-I will read the old testament

There are other things that I have now forgotten, but will remember at some point.

This week has been so great. There have been so many cool things I have learned. One of which is that 'distractions' such as facebook and cellphones can be used as a tool in spreading the gospel to our friends. Until the day of outreach I hadn't really attempted to start spiritual conversations with my friends. I may have been witnessing with my life and actions, maybe, but I hadn't really said much. I deffinately told like 15 people I was at this conference on Wednesday.

My room smells like bananas.... Ewwwwwwwww..... And they are ripe......

PS. One day left..!?!?!?!

21.9.10

Eye-Catching Advertisements.

Well, you know how it is. Just walking around. Wasting time in a strange environment for the purpose of aclimatizing yourself. That's what I was doing the other day. Just walking around after Chemistry.

"FOOT FETISH"

*double take* "What did that say..?" but I kept going because I did have to get to Physics (have to..? that's up to debate.)

Anyways, a couple days later I have the same morning schedule, so I went the same way and stopped to read the poster. The poster consisting of a picture of feet with the words "FOOT FETISH" in bold, large, centered letters was actually about the CU foot patrol. There wasn't much info on the poster except that if you volunteer so many hours you would get a free t-shirt, so I was interested in discovering more about this "foot patrol".

So, today I went online, googled "Carleton foot patrol", and found their website. The foot patrol is a "student-run, volunteer based campus safe-walk and patrol service." So, even though the add is rather sketchy... hehe. The actual organization is a good thing. xP [I kinda really want to volunteer for them. xP]

So, ya. I didn't blog yesterday. Why not..? Oh, right. Work until 10 and honestly I need more sleep, so I really need to try going to sleep early on days like that, and tuesdays... xP.... stupid schedule... >.>

Yesterday I sat beside two asians. One kept speaking Chinese to her friends behind her, so I didn't really meet her at all, and the other was nice. She is in integrated sciences and likes physics... ewwww. xP... She got a 70 in summer school calc apparently. Not that I'm making any conclusions from that. xP I also met her friend who is taking russian. o.0

Today I met another couple asians. xP In my group for bio labs there is an asian who has the same name as KC. lol. Another K! xP KC thinks they might have the same last name too. xP He apparently facebook searched for himself and found another few, one which also was in ottawa.

So, ya. In my bio group, there are like 6 people. I was sitting beside two. One white guy and one asian guy. I was very happy that there was an asian in my group. xP I was actually kinda ignoring the other guy... >.> The way he was talking reminded me of someone I couldn't really stand talking to. I thought he reminded me of JA, but I suppose he's more like SS-W, but not really. He actually seems nice... I was just kinda ignoring him...

So, we were all supposed to sign up for a Science Student Success Center mentoring session. I signed up online for one at 3. It said my mentor was Bruce I think. I thought "awwww.... i don't think he's asian..." I got to the SSSC 20 minutes early, so they just chose one of the people already there. Asian. Yuss. But the mentoring session was so boring. Really it is more for people who don't know what they are doing, so he told me to come back if I needed anything.

I got free pizza later because I went to another workshop. I actually didn't register this time... xP

Anyways.... I got to FILM half an hour ealry this time. It didn't fill up as quickly as i thought it would have. I hear there are lots of 2nd and 3rd year students in it for an easy A. xP... Today we watched Casablanca.

So, ya...

"But we'll leave that for 2007"

So. Hey, I guess I went to sleep last night. xP

After lunch we went and split into our majors and had some more orientation. A lot (a lot) of it was about how SSSC can help you. (Science Students Success Centre) It was all quite boring except for this video used to describe plagarism. On youtube apparently there are people who take the news and then autotune it to make videos.

The original:

The autotuned version:

lol.....

We then were taken elsewhere and introduced briefly to some of our profs. This one guy really like natural science. Its pretty funny watching him go on about natural science.

Then I went to a very brief workshop on procrastination.

Then we went to the free bbq that the carleton navigators were having nearby. I met a bunch of people. The navigators is a christian group that has dinner discussions and many outreach events. The only problem is that my timetable doesn't let me do anything tuesday or wednesday nights, which is when most of their events are held... so although it was interesting and everyone was really nice I dont think I can participate much...

Today I didn't have a class until 1, so I didn't wake up until 8:30 and at 10:30 I went to MHS to see people. I got like 7 hugs (a couple charged at me). I'm glad that each year we brainwash the music kids to eat in the basement. It makes them easier to find. xP but MM wasn't there! I wanted to see MM... >.>

Then I went to school. I kinda got slightly lost for a couple minutes because I didn't remember which room my class was in. I found a student computer lab and checked out carleton clubs and my timetable. Apparently the anime club and board game strategy club have the same president. The anime club sounds cool, but its on saturdays which is when worship practices are... and from what I read, apparently you need a membership to use the carleton athletic facilities..? I was hoping it was free / in my tuition already... I may have misread though..?

So my first class was MATH 1007 C. Calculus. Today was review of gr 12 functions though, which is good because I took that course last summer and barely remember any of it... xP

I walked into the room and saw an asian, so I sat beside him. xP

I'm not good at introductions... so i sat there silently for a while. For some reason I decided to write "can you read this?" in hiragana on my notebook instead of talking to him. This happened to work out though... xP He asked if I knew japanese. xP He is apparently korean and went to u of t last year. He's taking japanese this year because his sister said it was easy. and his name is k____. I know a lot of asians named k____.

So, ya. After that I had work... I just saw the 117 go by when I got to the buses and the otrain just arrived, so i took it instead of waiting. Unfourtunately the 111 didn't come for 15 minutes, so I ran/walked from confederation. I got to hogsback. 5 minutes for the next 117 and 7 minutes for the 111. So I kept going. I cross the bridge and the 117 goes by. whatever... i'll just get on the 111. It goes by too, so I ran and got on from the back door and the bus driver yelled at me a little..............

So, ya....

So much for university.

Ttyl... I have to wake up in like 6 hours..... RL doesn't... he only has labs and tutorials on fridays (no labs / tutorials this week...)

“The border crossing was kinda odd. Pastor DB's car got threw easily then the other two cars, following directly behind, had to get out and everything. Mostly because the guy switched, even after Pastor DB said there were two other cars...

Anyways, we stopped and had lunch at McDonalds. Apparently the church is paying for our food and we all got like 5$ allowance for lunch.

“It's 7:39. We are nearly there. We are about to get onto Staten Island and then Brooklyn. Yay! ... >.>”

"I didn't kill my children. I could be a father."

“Driving around in circles just to find a parking space is not really very fun... It is 9:01. We finished supper at Nathan's Famous Hotdogs and have just located the Dorcas Center in China Town. There is a CVS like across the street from DM. Which will make getting Advil PM easy this time. I wonder if we have to go in groups to go anywhere, even nearby places..?

Whatever.

D.Fa “

“First night is done. It is midnight. We just finished two games of monopoly deal. The twins each won a game. I'm tired, yo.

I hope the rest of the week goes well and that all the kids are amazing.

“Hey. It's like 7:30 and I am now kinda looking over my lines again. I think I have like 2.5 days kinda memorized.

Anyways, guess what..?

There's cold water in the shower! Yay! So, I had a moderately heated shower for once.
Church is at 10:45. We woke up a bit early, but whatever. =D

“Night 2. 11:04. I have just 'finished' turning my belt into a toolbelt. XP... I found some plastic tools so it's not as heavy as it was orignally.

Anyways, today was pretty hard work. Church was really cool though. It was so similar to our church. Like the speakers gave feedback, the songs were familiar, it started at 10:45 and they released the children. Oh. There was even like the same thing Auntie S taught the kids at our church. XP.

CW is now snoring. XP

“Hey. It's like 10:06 or something, but like this is the first time I've used my phone all day. Like at the start of the day I was pretty freaked out and everything, but as the day went by things smoothed over. I got to meet at least like 20 of the 33 kids that I am dealing with this week. Our group has like 11 grade 2 kids and 20 or so grade 1 kids. I have deffinately acted like a teacher today. Like it was great having one on one time with all these cool 6-8 year olds.

... “

“...

Like today I 'played' pokemon and yugioh/zatchbell with this grade 1 kid. We were definatley playing by his rules, both because he was 6 years old and because he had chinese cards, so I couldn't complain even if I wanted to. I lost both times, needless to say.

So, I'm in charge of the devo tommorow morning, so I need (underlined and italicized) to wake up (wake. Up.) at 6, not lie around for an hour... XP

So, ya... Today was Unexpected, but so amazing and cool. A very new experience.

“Hello. Everything is cool here. My matress is the most inflated and it's the only one that is completely manually filled. I'm one of 7 people from our church that are at the grade 1-2 vacation bible school. They are really cute and only like 5 of the 33 are kinda annoying. The grade 1s are ridiculous, but the grade 2s are pretty cool. Me and 3 others are in charge of the grade 2s. There are 11. The thing is that 2 of them don't speak english very well and there's one crazy kid. We've been having mostly asian food with rice. Its all been tasty. We just got back from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Prayer meeting. It was very intense. Everyone keeps telling me things like "roaming charges are 2$ per minute that your phone is on" and stuff, so my phone has been off most of the time. I'll talk to you later.

D.Fa”

“So, today was the third day of vbs here and, ya, it's been a long one... I guess.
All my clothes and even my sheets are getting smeely, so I washed some of my clothes. They are in the dryer right now.

We went into town and walked over the Brooklyn Bridge and walked around and stuff.
I have my hair in a gel-less fauxhawk too by the way.

We don't get to watch the "Who Wants To Be A Superhero" videos anymore because they are a bit too much for 6 year olds... >.>

I'll ttyl.

D.Fa”

“"Now you're just 'dum'!"

Okay. Hey.

So, there's just one day left.

RL is depressing me and tommorow is gonna be really sad because all these kids are really cool. I love these kids yo.

I suppose, well, I definately believe that this is a different situation then normal. I mean, normally I'm shy and stuff, but I've actually talked to and bonded with so many of them. T.T I'm pretty sure that I might cry tommorow...

I really want to like hug all of them tommorow. >.>

...

D.Fa”

“"because he was in CW's car."

So, ya. Today was the last day of the vbs. It was sad seeing all the kids leave and the skit was kinda messy, but today was good overall. I made a cape and mask! "Dynamite Dylan". Basically, Gambit's powers of exploding things, but more flashy. XP... I made it up only for the alliteration... >.>

We also went shopping today. I have no US money left now. Poor CC...

So, ya... We are now wasting time staying up playing board / card games while listening to worship songs. We will likely stay up all night.

It is now 1:45.

D.Fa”

Tiny Umbrellas

Hey.

So, today I actually started doing some work for the missions trip Hehe... I printed the script for the skits and looked over my part. The skits are pretty ridiculous sometimes and theres really only one main character and like 2.5 other characters plus volunteers from the audience. I'm the main character, at least for the grade 1-2 group. We have two different locations for the Vacation Bible School, so we basically have to do everything in two places at once. SW and DW get to go now! Yay!

I went to the prayer meeting and talked to Pastor DB about CL's part. She has the same part I do, but she has exams until the 12th and we leave on the 14th, so she may be in some trouble if she has to be the main character. I thought AL would be more suited to be Maintenence Mac rather then Water Woman. I don't see her going "Ooooh! High Heels for my date tonight!" or complaining about breaking nails...

I bought the food for the camping trip today and dropped it off at the church when I went to the prayer meeting.

Umm. So after the prayer meeting I decided to walk home. xP I mean I always wanted to walk home from church and I havn't spent a lot of time with my memory verses lately. I also didn't want to burden anybody by making them drive out of their way to drop me off, so I walked. That is until Maitland and Carling. Only about half way there and Paster DB was at Rogers for some reason and saw me and drove me home... Now I'll have to find another oppourtunity to walk home.

I watched some K-on with my brother. K-on is funny yo.

Ya.

Ttyl.

D.Fa

"Hey AL. You would be a funny Water Woman. Mostly because I feel its a role outside your normal type casting. I'm sure you could do it and do it well, but I think you should be mac. I also think HO as Pizza Man will be very funny, but then again I'm not in charge of casting, so whatever. xP It'll be cool if it works out. I don't have a girlfriend yet."
