Heroes Save the Day!

Hey!

Sushi with AP was fun, and then it got kinda awkward. lol. Anyways, it was really great seeing her this week and it was really great being able to still be friends after all this time. Having all that time together during spares and summer school was awesome. I hope we can continue being friends for a very long time. xP

I also got to see YA for the first time in a while which was good. lol. AP and YA are pretty good friends.

I've been researching Coptic Christianity a bit. It seems like it's similar to Catholicism, but maybe with even a bit more traditions and the idea of salvation through works... >.> I hope I'm wrong, but maybe...... I need to do a bit more research.

Thursday's Bible story is about Jesus and a little boy. You see, Jesus crossed the sea of Galilee and climbed a mountain. A large crowd approached. He asked Phillip where they could get enough food to feed everyone. Not even 8 months wages could feed the more than 5000 people. Andrew finds a little boy who is willing to share his 5 loaves and 2 fish, as if that will help much. Jesus tells everyone to sit down. He blesses the meal and gives the food to his disciples to pass out. After feeding everyone there was an extra 12 baskets full of bread. God provided food for everyone's hunger and God provided Jesus' atoning sacrifice for the sins of everyone, the entire world. Jesus died and rose again defeating death.

This story doesn't come with a game like the other stories do, but I feel that it's got good gospel links.

AL leaves tomorrow. Me and EC will meet briefly tomorrow to go over skits and maybe games..?

I'm doing my G1 driver's test tomorrow. I just crammed a bit. Gotta finish cramming, then maybe a mock-test..? Then back to story-telling to anyone and anything. Apparently, I have the potential to tell good stories, but I am inconsistent. I'll just let the Holy Spirit tell it for me. xP He is consistent.

Ttyl guys.

Swingin' Into the Night

So, ya.

Since I last posted we have had dinner, walked back, had main session, prayed, then swing danced.

The main session's focus tonight was on Quebec and how only 0.8% or so of the 10.2 million people are evangelical Christians. A very small percentage of people. Through varying things said by the speaker or other people there was this urge placed on having a heart for Quebec, moving to Quebec, praying for Quebec, etc. The main message had a lot to do with just making the little time we have left make a difference. There were many stats about how we could reach the whole world within the next 10 years and other things like that.

I just kinda started getting really sad thinking about how my faith was so small. This was most clear when she started speaking of how our job isn't going to be easy, but you know, the lord will give us everything we need. I know these things are true and I have said / prayed a number of times a number of things, but had I really meant them..? Was I really ready to step out and do hard work. I felt like such a coward and a hypocrite and a very faithless person thinking that I would rather just curl up in my safe little bubble instead of taking everything we have learned and making a difference.

I think that I prayed as sincerely as I ever have that God would stengthen my trust in Him in the coming semester and summer as I make larger steps of faith and break more faith barriers. Sure, it would be easy to just stay where we are in our safety, but that's such a waste. It's boring, not making progress, not doing as God has commanded us. I pray that I would be able to surrender in all situations and just rely on His hope and love and goodness to provide for me. Fear and insecurity should not exist if I am truly relying on the Lord.

So, ya. I prayed with HO, RM, R(?) and J(?).

Then I went swing dancing. xP So fun dancing. I havn't danced since the Musical. NJ was my partner then, but today I had like 20 partners (they made us switch everytime we learned something new, which was slightly annoying, but we got to meet so many new people...) It was a lot of fun. xP

On an unrelated note, have you ever been reminded of someone based more on the shape of the person than their actual personality..? xP I have been seeing people all week that look the same (mostly) as some people I know. These people include RM(high school friend), JB, JC(parcour/tiger suit), Dr. JS and HK(male). xP

Ya.

I've been coming up with new years resolutions. So far I have:
-I will tell people when I borrow things from them
-I will answer people when they ask me questions
-I will read the old testament

There are other things that I have now forgotten, but will remember at some point.

This week has been so great. There have been so many cool things I have learned. One of which is that 'distractions' such as facebook and cellphones can be used as a tool in spreading the gospel to our friends. Until the day of outreach I hadn't really attempted to start spiritual conversations with my friends. I may have been witnessing with my life and actions, maybe, but I hadn't really said much. I deffinately told like 15 people I was at this conference on Wednesday.

My room smells like bananas.... Ewwwwwwwww..... And they are ripe......

Boy Houses Are Gross. / "There are Pencil Crayons Everywhere!" / Do You Ever V..?

Ok, so.

This morning I woke up. There were empty beer bottles all over the place. Honestly... they were not there when I went to sleep... 0.o Where did they come from..? Apparently there was a "social gathering" last night at my house after I went to sleep. Unfourtunately for RL who had stayed up playing video games, they were too loud, so RL couldn't go to sleep until 4 am.

We both woke up at like 8. We didn't have to leave until like 10. He was going to go back to sleep, but I persuaded him not to. I mean, you feel more tired if you go back to sleep. In this free time RL learned how to tie a tie from google / youtube. He was going to be Tae Yang for Halloween. He had a dress shirt, a vest and a tie and everything.

KC came to OCBC today. That was cool. Being worship leader for the first time was cool. J(?) from my DG was also at church. He's in the Asian Christian Fellowship thing that DZ is in. He was also with this other guy which I thought was very familiar. He is in my MATH class and I was so sure he was that I talked to him. So, that's cool. Another asian friend! AND he's christian! score. xP I will work on that. I will soon have 3.5 asian friends in my MATH class.

Anyways. After church we missed the 95 barely, so we took the 96. We ended up at PineCrest station or something like halfway to kanata..... I had to be at work in half an hour at that point. We managed to take the 96 back to Queensway then the 86. KC lives near St. Laurent which made me wonder why we met at Baseline. That's a long way to go just to go halfway back.

So, like. It is possible for me to complain about a lot of things and it is also possible for me to brag, but I don't want to be that kind of person while at the same time I kinda want to. Do you ever feel like you want to do something, but you don't want to at the same time..? I think I inheirited the ability to complain from my dad. He will often complain about the smallest things... Like once there were, at most, like 5 pencil crayons slightly spead out on the living room floor. Or once there was rolling thunder and he thought that the furnace was making those noises. Actually my dad almost always / maybe half of the time thinks that noises are coming from our furnace when they are almost always not.

Anyways... Pumkin Spice Dougnuts are tasty and about a month from Dec 31 2099 I will be 108 years old.

Oh. Snow. Oh No!

So, ya...

Today I seemed to have done some work. Not nearly as much as I had hoped to, but it's a start I guess. I'm almost done my BIOL lab... xP......... That means I still have all of my CHEM lab, a BIOL quiz, my PHYS lab and hopefully some CHEM readings to do.

Anyways, today worship practice was interesting. I was 'leading' and it's gonna be my first time tommorow. So, ya........ xP

Then we had a worship leader study.

Then we had 'Saturate' which is our monthly night of worship for all YF / YA. SB and MM shared a testimony with us. I didn't actually really get to talk with MM, but I don't know what I would say...

So, this is the point where I would type up that testimony I had lost and then found, but I have once again misplaced it... xP

Anyways. When AL first invited me to YF, we did this 'Alpha Course' and MM and SB were my group leaders. MM has been a missionary in Cambodia on and off for a long time, so right after Alpha he went back to Cambodia and I havn't seen him since.

You know, a lot has happened in the last couple years. I noticed today. Especially when Pastor DB said "Dylan's going to be a discipler!"

Since grade 10, I have gone from knowing pretty much nothing about faith and christianity, to the Alpha course at YF, to going to church, to joining the worship team, to graduating to YA, to being baptised, to sharing the gospel with stangers, to being worship leader, to helping someone accept christ, to becoming a discipler. "Can you believe that quiet kid is now singing on the worship team?" It's like I've gone from knowing nothing to being able to teach others. While still actually not knowing anything. There's a lot more for me to learn, a lot more for me to surrender to christ.

A couple of weeks ago I was thinking "Whoa. in like two years or something I'll be leading a DG like TM or RM. That's so soon!"

Apparently that's not soon enough.

God does crazy things sometimes.

Anyways, it snowed. !!!! It's winter TT.TT so sad... now I should probably wear a coat / get shoes that are meant to be worn in cold/wet weather.

is spent trying to get MY work done so that I can work in the other departments, but I still havn't even written a resume. [I wanted to work somewhere else for a while. Anywhere. When I moved I thought that I should apply at FarmBoy aka in front of my house. I havn't...] I even found my old one and havn't taken the time to update it.... I am just living my life as it comes to me, never really trying to shape my own future...

xP... My chemistry lab partner saw my hair for the first time today. Honestly, this haircut is awesome. Absolutely everyone at work has complimented it, even though I have never had a full conversation with them... My haircut has led to many conversations about C4C, many of which have either led to me saying that I am christian and etc. or them saying how they didn't know C4C was at Carleton, and really, I just like not having to worry about hair, although I really need to shave....... I don't know if I'm going to do the neard or not... I seriously couldn't go outside while I had it and I deffinately couldn't go to work with it...

Late Update

So, ya.

Remember how I said I was planning to share with my friend Thursday morning..? Well, after a very boring Physics tutorial I went to meet up with him to study for our Bio Midterm on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure we were supposed to meet at 10. We met up at 10:55. I wasn't actually very concerned about studying for it though... I had 'studied' with DK the day before for a couple hours and it's all review from grade 12.

So, ya... I didn't end up sharing with him that day... but just spending the time with him in the library was cool too. I am being completely open with him about me being Christian. His reactions are interesting. I don't really know how to describe them though... He seemed kinda surprised when I said "Worship music" as my third answer to 'what type of music do you listen to?' and he just nodded along when I told him I was on the worship team / was going to church when he asked what I was doing this weekend.

He doesn't really say too much. I'm not sure if he's christian or not, but thinking about it, that day when we had overpriced stirfry in the loeb building he didn't say grace..? but people sometimes forget / I'm not always very observant... >.>

Anyways, I realized, when I was originally writing a post similar to this one, that I was always really shy about sharing my faith, like even saying that I was Christian or admitting that I went to YF or church or anything. Since I've been openly sharing that much things have been way cooler and honestly no one has ever hated on me for saying I was Christian, so what was I so afraid of..? Then I realized that there are people who fear what people will do to them if they were ever found to be Christian. People living their lives hiding their beliefs from others.

I suppose that it is a blessing that we can live in a country with freedom of religion, but I guess at the same time that makes it harder too...

Anyways, this discussion led me to 1 Corinthians 10:31 "So whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Live your lives intentionally so that you are always an example and people can see God's love flow through you, even if you aren't directly sharing the gospel. I havn't spent too much time lately on my memory verses, so I needed to get my memory verse sheets for that.

When I went to get them I also realized that I had yet to read any of the bible that day, so I read 2 Timothy 1 and 2 Timothy 1:8-10 spoke to me. "Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner; but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel"

So, ya. There is no reason for us to hide the truth of our faith from others, but rather we should shine the light that is in us into the darkness of this world, or something along those lines.

xP...

"But we'll leave that for 2007"

So. Hey, I guess I went to sleep last night. xP

After lunch we went and split into our majors and had some more orientation. A lot (a lot) of it was about how SSSC can help you. (Science Students Success Centre) It was all quite boring except for this video used to describe plagarism. On youtube apparently there are people who take the news and then autotune it to make videos.

The original:

The autotuned version:

lol.....

We then were taken elsewhere and introduced briefly to some of our profs. This one guy really like natural science. Its pretty funny watching him go on about natural science.

Then I went to a very brief workshop on procrastination.

Then we went to the free bbq that the carleton navigators were having nearby. I met a bunch of people. The navigators is a christian group that has dinner discussions and many outreach events. The only problem is that my timetable doesn't let me do anything tuesday or wednesday nights, which is when most of their events are held... so although it was interesting and everyone was really nice I dont think I can participate much...

Today I didn't have a class until 1, so I didn't wake up until 8:30 and at 10:30 I went to MHS to see people. I got like 7 hugs (a couple charged at me). I'm glad that each year we brainwash the music kids to eat in the basement. It makes them easier to find. xP but MM wasn't there! I wanted to see MM... >.>

Then I went to school. I kinda got slightly lost for a couple minutes because I didn't remember which room my class was in. I found a student computer lab and checked out carleton clubs and my timetable. Apparently the anime club and board game strategy club have the same president. The anime club sounds cool, but its on saturdays which is when worship practices are... and from what I read, apparently you need a membership to use the carleton athletic facilities..? I was hoping it was free / in my tuition already... I may have misread though..?

So my first class was MATH 1007 C. Calculus. Today was review of gr 12 functions though, which is good because I took that course last summer and barely remember any of it... xP

I walked into the room and saw an asian, so I sat beside him. xP

I'm not good at introductions... so i sat there silently for a while. For some reason I decided to write "can you read this?" in hiragana on my notebook instead of talking to him. This happened to work out though... xP He asked if I knew japanese. xP He is apparently korean and went to u of t last year. He's taking japanese this year because his sister said it was easy. and his name is k____. I know a lot of asians named k____.

So, ya. After that I had work... I just saw the 117 go by when I got to the buses and the otrain just arrived, so i took it instead of waiting. Unfourtunately the 111 didn't come for 15 minutes, so I ran/walked from confederation. I got to hogsback. 5 minutes for the next 117 and 7 minutes for the 111. So I kept going. I cross the bridge and the 117 goes by. whatever... i'll just get on the 111. It goes by too, so I ran and got on from the back door and the bus driver yelled at me a little..............

So, ya....

So much for university.

Ttyl... I have to wake up in like 6 hours..... RL doesn't... he only has labs and tutorials on fridays (no labs / tutorials this week...)

*shrug*

So, ya.

Today was the first day of my baptism lessons with Pastor DB.

Today was about the gospel.

He went to my blog and saw the paragraph I wrote. here.

I have only been a Christian since going to OCBC, so I have learned mostly from him, so a lot of that paragraph was what he wanted to hear / wanted me to know. There were a couple things he pointed out that I shall note here.

1. Jesus was man and God. He was just like us, but he relied on God for every move and relied on the holy spirits power to do miracles. We have the same holy spirit, we have the same struggles, we have the same mission. [We are the smae in every way except that he is man AND god.]

2. "Drawing from the power he has given us, relying on it everyday, turning away from sin and professing Jesus as Lord over our lives we can be born again with new life." The way I phrased that is incorrect, although I sometimes feel this way. We do not have to work towards our salvation. Our salvation was bought when Jesus died on the cross. After we believe we are justified. The struggle and working to become better comes after we have been justified. We know we are saved, so we fight to live better lives that will reflect what Jesus has done for us, we don't change our lives so that we can be saved, we change our lives bcause we have been saved. Once we die, we go to heaven and are no longer struggling against sin because it isn't there anymore.

Apparently CC cheated. xP

Anyway. Tommorow is about baptism.

I feel that the importance of baptism is about showing to everyone your willingness to serve God. I mean, if you can't stand in front of a crowd of people and say you believe in Jesus and the gospel, how can you hope to tell everyone about it..?

Of course it's also about your old self dying and being born again with the holy spirit, but that happens without a ceremony. I mean if you actually do believe in it all, the holy spirit is in you and you will start living a new life, right..?

So, ya.

I'm watching this drama. Each episode is the same length as an episode of anime and it is actually based off an anime. xP an anime I have watched. MOYASHIMON! YAY! The difference is clearly a different focus and the fact that it's live action. The drama is focussing more on the drama, duh, while the anime focused more on the actual plot.

Here's the opening and ending. I like the opening (now anyways) the ending is kinda annoying, but educational. lol.:

I think I'm moving on the 30th, fyi.

A Week Away

So, ya.

This week has really been great.

I've had time to spend reading Mark and bonding with my brothers and sisters and I've had time interecting with children that God has made unique and special and I've had time away from the way I've conformed to the world. I just want to stay in this new pattern, seeing my Christian friends all the time, spending more time with God and doing work for Him, and not getting caught up in the world's problems.

I'll edit all the posts from the trip a bit later, they are slightly out of order because I was originally going to just save them all on my phone, but I could only save like 8, so I had to send one. Then my dad emailed me saying to email them, so I did and that was also a post to the blog. Today I sent the rest in whatever order they are in.

I got like 300 pictures this week. xP VBS worship songs are ridiculous. I'm tired from last night... it was really funny staying up until 5:30 then sleeping until 7 and waking up again to pack and then leave.
