Today was fun. A lot of fun. I spent 28$ though... lol
It started with my dad making breakfast. Then I watched television with my brother. Then I recieved a couple texts. 'Where are you?' I realized that church starts at 9:30 for the summer.
I got there at 10:10 or so. Just in time for the sermon.
It was about 2 Cor 5:16-19. "So then from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciledus to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling himself to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he was commited to the message of reconciliation."
In a recent sermon Pastor DB covered the passage just a little earlier in 2 Cor about how we are pots that have been given a treasure inside. No matter what we look like on the outside, the gospel and hope and light and Holy Spirit that we have is the same and is the treasure we need in us. In a worldy view people mocked Jesus and called him all sorts of things, but they were wrong, He died on the cross, but rose again three days later. He was the Son of God. In the same way, we may look at other people and shy away from telling them about the love God has for them because of the outward appearances that make us different, but in God's sight we are all precious children of God given everything needed to be able to make the choice and return to Him.
He also ended up telling a story about a boy who he first met about three years ago who was very shy. At youth alpha when his group was asked a question it was just silence. You always had to pry the answer out of him. He was socially awkward and avoided the crowd of people. Now he is telling people all over the world about Jesus' death and God's love for them. Truly it is an act of the Spirit this change.
Anyways, after the sermon I got to pray with ML's dad and RL's dad, RL. Honestly I need prayer for relying on the Spirit, fighting sin and temptation in my life and just walking in the Spirit which is in conflict with the flesh so that you do not do what you want. It's true. When I want to be walking in the Spirit, the flesh acts up and temptation rises. If left to my own power I fall to it. But when I want what the flesh wants, the Spirit convicts me otherwise and corrects me.
Then we (Me, AL, RL and the soon to be gr 12 / 1st year uni students) went for Pho in China town. I haven't had noodle soup for so long and I haven't had Pho since April. Then, instead of doing 'just Pho' (which is a phrase I thought was just dissing Pho, not implying we should do something more) we also went to a karaoke place downtown for a couple hours. A lot of fun.
A bunch of YF are going to Salmon Arm, BC today for a week of ministry and stuff. Also, the twins will be leaving for school. Those are some reasons why we hung out today.
After we dispersed by bus. I went with RL to his house and watched more modern family. lol. It appears I've almost seen the whole first season.
We had VBS practice in the Loblaws nearby. Lots of fun. xP It's gonna be great. Pray for the children being registered. We need three more. Pray that God will bring them, handpicked for VBS.
Keep praying for RL.
Thanks.
Ttyl.
