He Will Be My Light!

Yo.

I want to get out of this valley already.

I've been just digging deeper, and each time I tried to climb out I slip back further.

But this is it. I'm done.

I've stopped long enough to realize there was a rope ladder on the other side attached to a helicopter ready and waiting to pull me out and upwards.

Multiple times this week God has just been so clearly planning everything. Like on Friday I was texting a bro and talking about a verse in Psalm 119. I was feeling really down about what I had done that morning, so on my break I ended up reading the whole psalm. Later that night was Alpha and it was about the Bible, God's word. And they mentioned Psalm 119 a few times since it is a psalm all about God's word.

Saturday, I don't know what I was doing, but I googled 'Christian pickup lines'. They are all hilarious, trust me. lol. Sunday night's sermon started with a verse I had read in the comments on one of those pages. Psalm 56:1a "be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me" (read out of context it is a verse many women have joked about including the speaker that night). But her talk was really great. David called out in danger, but also praised God for the fact that He fulfills His promises and although still in the situation, God will work and get him through it. And the last verse of the psalm is really great too.

Psalm 56:13 "For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life."

God has freed us from slavery to sin, from fear of death, from all of the punishment we deserve so we could walk in light and life. That's amazing. He did it. Not us.

A sister sent me this verse and encouragement about sin: " Do not be afraid,” Samuel replied. “You have done all this evil; yet do not turn away from the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. For the sake of his great namethe Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to makeyou his own. (1 Samuel 12:20-22)

This has always encouraged me when sin seems so big. Even though we have done evil, we don't have to be afraid to come to God. And out of fear for the Lord, we RUN to him to walk in the light and He is the Light!
God is bigger! God wants us still! "

So my prayer right now for all of this situation is out of Psalm 119:

Psalm 119:132-133 "Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me."

As well as praise for Him, knowing that He is greater than sin and can set us free.

So, ya. Walk in the light. Seek His guidance and power to fight temptation. Trust in His goodness and plans.

PS. This song is great too.

  1. Brother, 1 John 1:9 and 2:1-2 are encouraging.

Don't wait for feelings or mystical experiences, trust in the words of God and rejoice in Christ.
