Hey guys!
Honestly, I just had an amazing time at church earlier tonight. So, as usual, I left my homework until the last possible moment. I had to read a couple chapters of Spurgeon, do a reading, do a lot of practice reading the Bible aloud, choose a preacher to research and a psalm to present. I read like 1/10 of the spurgeon reading. That was it. lol. So, on the way to church tonight I used my phone to choose a good psalm. Well, I chose randomly. Haha. Psalm 79. I had no clue what this meant to me or what it actually meant in context. lol. I was supposed to have practiced a bit and everything. Nope. lol. I read it like 10 times tonight to get ready to present. I only read it aloud once though. lol.
It was really amazing though. After having read it so many times I started to understand the meaning. As God's chosen people, why were they getting murdered? Why not the nations that don't know God? But in every situation we are able to praise God for who He is.
I guess I've read a bit about the exiles and stuff in the Bible and about the troubles Israel went through, but those chapters are always really short, eh? Years can pass by in a couple words.
I think I've grown a new appreciation for the Psalms and the emotion they contain if read properly.
I don't think I'm really getting my point across, but ya, I think I really want to do that again. Read the word of God with emotion and meaning, not the way we mindlessly and in monotonous unison read the slides together Sunday mornings.
Thank God for revealing again the greatness of His word!

PS: Psalm 79. ESV
O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;
they have defiled your holy temple;
they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
They have given the bodies of your servants
to the birds of the heavens for food,
the flesh of your faithful to the beasts of the earth.
They have poured out their blood like water
all around Jerusalem,
and there was no one to bury them.
We have become a taunt to our neighbors,
mocked and derided by those around us.
How long, O LORD? Will you be angry forever?
Will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your anger on the nations
that do not know you,
and on the kingdoms
that do not call upon your name!
For they have devoured Jacob
and laid waste his habitation.
Do not remember against us our former iniquities;
let your compassion come speedily to meet us,
for we are brought very low.
Help us, O God of our salvation,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us, and atone for our sins,
for your name's sake!
Why should the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants
be known among the nations before our eyes!
Let the groans of the prisoners come before you;
according to your great power, preserve those doomed to die!
Return sevenfold into the lap of our neighbors
the taunts with which they have taunted you, O Lord!
But we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
will give thanks to you forever;
from generation to generation we will recount your praise.
