Hey guys!
(I try to keep posts shorter than longer, so that's why I've done a couple days with two posts now. Haha)
So, ya, I've been reading 1 Chronicles in the Old Testament of the Bible recently. Not the most exciting book, but there are things to learn here, which I have probably not nearly been able to grasp. lol
But, ya, one thing that I have been thinking recently is why are these people written down in these genealogies? Like, sure, some were great warriors, some had descendants who did great things, some were influential or prophets, but then there are a lot of people who didn't really do all that much.
I remember back in our old church building there was a book in the youth room about a guy called Jabez. 1 Chr 4:9-10 is about him. " Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez
cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and
enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so
that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request." That's all we know of him. His name sounds like pain and he cried out to God in faith and He answered him.
Today I was also reading and I came across a guy named Mattithiah. 1 Chr 9:31 "A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite,
was entrusted with the responsibility for baking the offering bread." He baked bread. I mean of all the cool things to do in the temple of the Lord, baking bread is probably not very glamorous.
Ya, so it's just like, God considered them significant enough to put them in His word. What did they do? They served Him and brought Him glory in the things they did. The things God gave them to do.
So, ya. Even in the little things God gives us to do, we can bring Him glory!
Ttyl.
