"This is a Missions Field"
I had never been to a club or bar or anything. So, I was pretty scared at the prospect of going. This week, starting tomorrow with 'move-in's, is Frosh Orientation Week and I am assisting as a facilitator (from here out known as 'facil'). As of 6am tomorrow we are under contract to not drink any alcohol. Thus the party night tonight. I had been praying about it. A couple days ago our team's head messaged us about it. What do I do? Do I go attempting to make friends with my team? Do I stay home to avoid temptation? If I go what will happen? Would I turn down the offer of a drunk person? >.< And so I was pretty stressed about the choice.
Today was our mandatory training to become facils. Last time I didn't know where my group was or what we were doing until like half way through the day and even then I didn't hang out with them or get to know them and then the next day they were all best friends, knew all the cheers and I kinda felt a bit excluded. >.> So I focused more on making friends with the frosh. All good. But this is as much an opportunity as making friends with frosh. So I did want to try and if going to a club is the only way to be their friends, do I want to do that?
So, training. We get to our room and I run into one person who recognizes me by my facebook picture. (lol) So we sat together until they called our team and the people cheering realized we should all sit together. This was partially caused by the lack of our head and vice-heads being there at the beginning. Anyways, I got to meet a few people. One guy was pretty cool. It's funny though because he is going into third year Communications and doesn't know any of the people I know in third year communications. lol.
Anyways, a long day of lectures. Finally at 5 we were released. We went home for dinner and then went to CD's house to decorate our shirts. (Oh, btw, I'm on team S'mores for CU at the Hungry Games. lol) It was nearly time to decide if I was going to go to Hull or not. At 8 we were supposed to be at Brewer Park to take a bus there.
Apparently the whole place was booked for just us, tomorrow would be a lot of work so no one should get too drunk, I'd be going with my new friend who doesn't drink much, RM would be there, you could leave whenever you wanted. So I guess I decided to go.
I honestly really thank God for my new friend. He doesn't like dancing that much. He was hoping we'd be more like sit down talk and get to know each other. So when it was mainly dancing (which I am not all that opposed to in dry situations) we sat at one of like 3 tables. Haha. Unfortunately, with the music blasting we couldn't really talk much. I thought I saw RN, but no. lol. His name was P(?). lol. Nice to meet you. I also got to talk to DV breifly about our summers. At 9:35ish we left. I really didn't know what to do. lol. I couldn't really talk to anyone about the gospel, I couldn't really go dance and ditch my friend (plus the dancing was pretty awkward a lot of the time, so probably better this way. lol.).
Bonus to leaving early: we took a bus, not a cab.
Also we had more time to talk. He has been really open, which is awesome. I'm really glad we met and there's still a whole week ahead. Haha

Tuesday to Thursday
I'm really tired now. Haha. Got Frosh training at 8am. >.>
So, quick update:
Tuesday and Wednesday I had a retreat with the staff / servant team for UOttawa / Carleton P2C. We went camping in Fitzroy Provincial Park out by Arnprior. It was great! We played volleyball a couple times (the ball died so badly. I guess we just play too hard for it. lol) and chilled a bit, but mainly we were talking and praying and planning for what would happen this coming year. And we know God can do more than we ask or imagine, so expect amazing things. Haha.
Wednesday night was OCBC prayer meeting. That was good. Small group prayer we were five guys from non-Christian homes. It's really cool how God works in unexpected ways and how we can trust in His faithfulness in answering prayers in accordance with His will. After that me and SM went to RL's to watch 500 Days of Summer. I thought it was a happier movie. lol. Good main actor / actress though. Made me a bit depressed for a bit. lol.
Ummm. Thursday. Today. Mainly plants again. Haha. But I also got to meet up with my friend AP and have sushi again. lol. It had been such a long time and it was the last chance before she left for school. It was good getting to catch up and talk. I ordered a bunch of sushi, but they lost the order. Haha. Definitely should not be another year before the next time we get to talk. Thus the reason skype was created. xP
Ummm. Finally was training for Rock the River. Tonight was about sharing the gospel. Pretty cool. lol. there was a video about this guy on the Titanic who was sharing his faith even up to the second he died. He put his daughter in the lifeboat, he gave away his life jacket, he kept going even in the water. One of the six survivors had talked to him and had given their life to the lord just before he passed away. Crazy. How would I act in that situation? But then bring it back and realize that if even my friends and family that I know here and now don't know Jesus' forgiveness then they aren't saved. Hmmm...
Anyways,
Ttyl. It may be a week. >.> I think I'm going to a bar tomorrow night. Pray for that.

The Most Hypocritical Bracelet
First full day living in the house with my housemates, but as always I was out all day. lol.
Plants and work. lol. When I did get back I decided to start arranging my room and getting my stuff in place.
Funny thing is that I'm gone for the next two days, so it's like I still don't live here. Probably won't cook until frosh week is over. lol.

Turn Back to God
I had to wake up pretty early to get to church. I didn't know exactly when I was supposed to leave, so I kinda just went. I just need to take the train and then a bus on the transit way, so I knew it wouldn't be too hard. Trains only run once every half hour on Sunday morning apparently though and buses run much less as well. Oh well. lol
I also thought I had to be there at 9 instead of 9:30. lol. All good.
I finally got to work on my sermon. I wrote out my verses and read them and prayed and the worship team practiced. lol. It was sweet.
I was really not paying attention during the sermon though. lol.
Then there was a going away to China picnic for AL that I had to miss to go to work.
1-6 work. So bored. Kinda angry. Need to write a sermon. So I left early.
Sermon researching and anime and dinner then off to church.
At this point very little had been written down. I had brainstormed a lot over the last few days, but I also forget a lot. lol. Before going to work I took the train back to get a book. I ended up doing a lot of thinking on that trip even though I didn't actually use the book. lol
7:10 I got an idea for an introduction.
I kinda ignored the other guys' sermons. I had to write mine. lol... TS's was a good half hour. lol...
It worked out pretty well though, for having just written it. And it all came together too. I was so nervous right up until the point I prayed before the sermon. Then it happened.
Really cool.
I also got this sense of peace I haven't had in two days. Awesome.

Two Puns for the Price of One!
Yo guys. Didn't blog yesterday. Haha. I had to wake up early and play with my plants all day, like literally from 8-5...
But I did get an hour break to chill and catch up with SK. Good times. God is pretty amazing how He works around the world and in our hearts.
I also got to meet up with some friends later on. We went to this cool place on Laurier and got to talk about the summer and future plans. Lol. 'Festive Celebration'.
Today OCBC won the playoffs for our division. I had work and near the end I kinda internal raged. I got really upset about something I was thinking about.
I moved the last of my stuff to my new house.
Then I had to go to Lichee View. We were having a EA reunion / sendoff dinner thing. It was good. I actually had a pretty loud conversation at God about the stuff I was mad about. It really helps when you bring all your worries to Him.
Funny thing is though that my brother asked if he could stay over at my house, but then his brother also was here AND my housemate just moved in and his parents were sleeping over, so that's 4 extra people in our house, which is just a floor. So 6 people in a three bedroom unit. Lol. Oh well. The more the merrier. Except that we got back past 11 and they were asleep already and my stuff is just everywhere. Lol..... It worked out. Lol

PS. Two Puns:
"Hey! What's that round bruise on your face? You must have been hit by a hard ball or something..."
"Actually, a softball."
"Who would do that? Must have been some sort of a fiend."
"Actually, my friend."

Looking Forward
Yo. So I'm walking home now. Finally. Lol... So tired. Pretty sick. Lol. All good.
I got to see "Definitely, Maybe" for the first time. Really good. I remembered my feeling I should watch it when I saw the commercials four years ago. Gotta watch "500 days of summer" too. Lol
Anyways. I slept in today. 4 hours. Haha. Meant to get up early and go to school, but didn't at all. Gotta do that tomorrow for sure.
I took a thermometer to the shower today. It was an electronic one and after 44°C it just says HI with red light. So the water is hotter than 44°C. Thus a shower means death. Lol.
Ummm. Work was cool. I got to think a lot about my sermon. I didn't tell you, but God brought a passage to me while I was on the bus the other day and I think it's pretty cool. I may even be able to quote Tim Keller in my sermon. Lol.
But ya. After work I had dinner and watched an anime my friend recommended. Really good. Tell you more later perhaps.
Ummm. Got to go to a Christian Life and Witness class. Good times. OCBC Represent! But seriously I need to reread what he talked about and do the homework. Lol AL thought this small asian guy was RL from the back and front. Not at all. Lol. Kinda. Oh well. He was konda alone so I went and made a friend. Lol. His name sounds the same as RL but with a B at the front. Lol. Exchanged phone numbers and had to run off to spend the last few minutes with SW before he goes back to school.
Good times. Lol.
Things change. Things fade and rust and break and grow old. But God never changes.

Holes in your Logic
The answer should be neither. I didn't say yes or no. So, why did everyone think I wasn't going? lol.
Tonight we had YA. It's a Wednesday. So this was unusual. Thus the reason I said that. But I did go. And so did another 11 people (eventually). It was good. lol.
Sometimes I think "Oh! I'lll write about that when I get home" and then forget it and write posts like this.
I need to wake up early and go back to school to finish putting soy beans in bags. >.< Not fun.

Talking with Twins
Today was cool. lol. I got a guitar!!! Yay! Well, it's just extended borrowing, but still.
I kinda slept in, but then went to school and played with the plants for a long time. lol. Stupid lentils!!! >.<
Umm, came back, had dinner and then went to Chinese class with NYC! He's pretty funny. lol. chinese class was actually really hard this week. lol. Phrases you can hear in a department store? lol. Always elaborate, respectful and a waste of time. lol
Got to talk with him for a bit about random things. Hope we can be brothers some day soon.
Also got to skype text with TJN. It's kinda as I thought, but that's fine. I'm glad we can talk about it. lol

Since yesterday was all work and no play (or church) I couldn't go driving, so today I did. I had my G2 test this after noon. It was scheduled for 1:50. So this morning me and my dad went driving around near the driving test building, get used to the roads I'd be tested on. I also had a mock test, as usual, but today (because I was going up a hill backwards so I had to accelerate to even move) I finally understood parallel parking! And then I mastered it!
The next thing to do was the elusive three point turn. My dad had not told me how to do this. I thought I knew what it was. He explained 'you must angle to the right at a 45' angle, then angle the other way left to the middle of the road, then angle left again to a 45' angle, then go'...... what? Ummm.... what??!?!? I couldn't even imagine what this was supposed to be. It sounded like a fat u-turn. My arguement "there are no pints in that turn" was uneffective. He said "I know it's archaic...". I said, "I'm sure it's more like, turn left, reverse right, turn left." "There's no reversing, you should never have to stop". How do you get a point then..? So confused. So, I google it. lol.
I asked "which of these is a three point turn?"
Problem solved. "You can ask questions before the test. You should ask if the three-point turn you are being tested on has reversing in it." >.>
Anyways, I was all ready for this test. Went home, had lunch, was ready to go.
Got to the testing facility. Waited in line 10 minutes. Waited outside 35 minutes. Finally met the examiner. He inspected the lights, checked the insurance. Then I was told I could not take the test. The car's registration had expired. Get that fixed and come back waiting on standby for someone to not take the test, or reschedule at least 10 days from now. >.< Work at 5...
So, basically, I just failed the driving test, well actually, I failed the car inspection. >.>
New test scheduled for 8:45 on Sept 21. My brother will have his license next week (maybe not..? lol.)...
Anyways,

A Sick Day
Yo, so, if ever there was a day that I would want to take off for being sick it would have been today. Instead 9 hours. >.< Good side: got to talk with SL.
I was supposed to preach tonight, but hadn't really started... So I was gonna have to do it during my breaks... Lol. Then Pastor DB text me saying I could go next week. Yess.
So I'm still sick, but excited for next week's class. Haha. This week is packed.

The End?
Pretty exciting week it's been. I've been in Brooklyn, New York, again this year for a week of Vacation Bible School and I can't believe it is over again so soon and that I probably have to wait two years before I can go again...
I took hand-written blog entries for the week, so those'll be up soonish (I look very busy the next couple days / weeks. >.<
I got home at like 8:15 after having left at 9:30.
This morning I went to bed at like 5:30 after passing out on the couch preparing to lead devotionals this morning after playing two games of risk. Woke up at like 7. Devo was during breakfast at 8ish. I will likely paraphrase it in another post.
I was feeling really sick. Stuffed nose, sore throat, upset stomach, maybe a fever? So the first half of the ride after saying goodbye to my brother JL (from Long Island, not Toronto) I slept as best I could. The second half we played a game of monopoly deal. I won. They played for another few hours while I read Manga Metamorphosis, a manga version of the book of Acts! Really good. It wasn't too much longer, maybe like two hours?
Auntie EC is a funny driver.

Purgatory
I have not packed. lol. Laundry is going right now. Well, I'm doing my laundry anyways, not all of it is coming with me. Probably should have done laundry at some other time. lol.
Anyways, today I kinda slept in and then only had like an hour and a half until work. Clearly the best time to be tempted. >.< Had to flee, which is cool. I clearly can't stand and win at this point. I then did a lesson about vigilance. Haha Don't let your guard down, the devil is prowling like a lion, ready to pounce and devour.
Work was dreadfully boring. I can't work 6 days a week in the same place. I got bored of produce so I went to salad bar. I worked in salad bar twice this week, so I was pretty bored of that too, so I went to bakery. There was nothing to do there so I went to deli. Nope. Seafood? Nope. Customer Service? Nope.
I was pretty bored. lol. I was even thinking I should just leave and go home. Then I remembered that SL was gonna be there at 5! Couldn't miss that. We got to clean corn together for like 2 hours. >.< So boring, but good times.
Yep. So here I sit doing not much. I probably should have said I am listening a lot to 'songstowearpantsto' instead of Phil Wickham. Haha.
So cool. And a theremin?!?!?!?
Ttyl. Maybe in about a week or so..?

Growing: Slowly, but only because God caused it.
6 hours in a greenhouse is too much, eh?
Also, I got dripped on while it was raining. >.> Oh well.
I think I've been really encouraged by my brother SM recently. Not that he's the best, not that he's strong, not that he's got everything together, not even that he uses his time wisely (haha), but just that he is trying to seek the Lord always and in every way. Whether it's people he is having a hard time loving, spending more time with our brothers, seeking to know more about God's word, offering to pray for others, or even just being open about what he's going through; it's really great having a brother like that. Let's keep fighting the good fight and running the race set out before us. Haha
Ya. Honestly, I spent all day dealing with soybeans...
Then we had YA about Romans 8 and I ate a bunch of cupcakes. >.> I was hungry.
I can't believe it's Friday now. We leave for Brooklyn Saturday morning. I just looked back at HF's pictures of our grade 1/2 kids at VBS two years ago. Can't wait to see some of them this year. T.T

But the other day I was doing a survey and I found out it was by Carleton's Psychology Department and I got a 5$ TimCard from it. I came home at 11:30 and my TimCard was here!! Best! Something About Jesus
Today was pretty cool.
Work and Soybeans.
Honestly, like hours and hours and hours of soybean stuff. Actually so glad JXW appeared and helped. We were going to go to softball practice, but that was rained out, so we had dinner at my house that I don't live in yet.
Ya, nothing to say, so let's check the notes on my phone. lol
Oh, ya. So, B+HF's wedding. We were driving to the reception and CW asks me what I am listening to these days (because of my way of listening to one band or song at a time). I said 'Phil Wickham'. And after explaining he is a worship leader or something CW was like 'Oh, I think I know him. Is he that guy that wrote that song, ummm... something about Jesus...' We all broke out in laughter. (Of course it's going to be something about Jesus, lol.)
Scary thing, later the next day as Pastor DB was driving me home and messing around with SIRI he asked her to play him a song and the song "Something About Jesus" came on. o.O That's a real song? Haha (It was not by Wickham. lol)
Ya, so, I'll ttyl.

today was good. I am calling it my day off. Even though actually I woke up at like 5:45 and had work from 6-10. But after that /i had nothing planned. Therefore it was a day to do bits and pieces of things I have to do.
I got home and took a nap kinda. Had a good QT.
So, pretty relaxing. Haha
I'm gonna do some budgeting now using the data from the last 2 years. Bwahaha. I'm going digital with my budgetting.

Missing You
Yo, so, as you are well aware, this week I was super busy. VBS was awesome, but I actually didn't get to go on Friday...
Thursday afternoon in post-camp I got to play volleyball with ML for a good 40 minutes. So funny! He's not bad. Lol. So after a few minutes of fun times charging at the ball and hitting it into chairs (we played with a partially deflated beach ball) he decided I should always serve since I'm more accurate and it gives him more time to prepare. He'd make sure his hat was on straight and get his arms ready to bump and say "let's go" or "I'm ready", I'd toss him the ball and he'd do a full swing of the arms (often knocking his hat off (thus the need to fix it)) and the ball could end up nearly anywhere. Haha. After a little practice and switching to a more inflated ball he was returning it pretty well (I had always been trying to aim right at him. Lol).
Anyways, skipping VBS on the last day was one of the hardest things I ever had to go through... I was being a bit irrational thinking I'd never see them again, but still. I didn't get to say goodbye to ML or the girls who love me or the other little kids or D(?) or any of them. All because of some thirsty soy beans. Hmff. So all morning I was being emotional trying to rih through things on the chance that I'd have time to drop by and give them hugs or something before rushing to work.
Nope. No time.
So all day I was praying for them and the performance I missed for their parents and the Bible story and just for them to have really seen God's love this week.
Ya... Gonna miss them. Lol. No. I'll see them around. But ya, Brooklyn in like a week. I really hope I get to see some of the kids from last time. I'm gonna look through HF's album and remember all their names. Haha
Anyways,

Dinner
So, I am never home for dinner, eh? Haha.
Sunday I had work until 6 and Preaching course at 7.
Monday I had work.
Tuesday I was at the Chinese Class at church.
Wednesday I had dinner at the works after VBS.
Thursday I was at YA.
Friday I had work until 7 and then (after quickly eating leftovers) went to JC's for board games and stuff.
Today I have been invited over for dinner by my friend's parents.
So here I am. Haha. Downstairs at a friend's house blogging as he plays HoN. Seriously... This is, like, heartbreaking. I don't know what to say to get him off this laptop and actually do something. Playing video games should be for leisure, on the side of what you actually do. When all you do is eat, sleep, gym, video games, there is a problem.
When did this start and how can he be satisfied with this?
I played for hours and hours on Maple Story, but it was just repetative keyboard typing and mouse clicking as pixels moved from one part of the screen to another and other pixels disappeared. This was on one character then another I think I had gone through about nine characters. I was a guild leader and had played for a couple years.
When gaming became so important that I was actually scheduling guild events.
The game was taking over my life and seriously it was accomplishing nothing. I was sitting in front of a computer screen wasting time making numbers increase and 'making friends' I have never heard from again nor ever will.
So I'm pretty good not playing any more MMORPGs.
I don't want to sit by as the world passes by. I want to follow God where He leads and live the life abundant and be used for all He has planned.
So, ya... It really hurts to see him playing so much as the world passes by. I'm praying for him every week that God would change his outlook and help him see how meaningless and fleeting and unfulfilling it is. May God call him powerfully and change his life; save him.
He's at a friend's now, or rather he is with a friend. A birthday.
So, the point I was talking about earlier. My parents think I'm not eating enough or that I am paying for a lot of meals, so my Dad is giving me food money. Haha
Ttyl.

My New Preteen Girl Fanclub
Haha.
So, it's been busy. lol. Like, ridiculously so. I've had three days of VBS interspersed within 7 hours at work and 5 hours at school and like 12 hours of sleep. But all in all it's been good.
ML is the best four year old in the world! (I feel like I say that a lot, ut he's kinda got a fan club among the volunteers and they are all trying to get him to say that they are his favourite. lol... I'm in the fan club though, but I'm trying to let him be a normal kid by shooing the other fans away. lol)
Anyways, I really haven't been at VBS much, but it's been really good getting to see the children open up, especially the three children from Haiti that don't speak much / any English. Even B(?) is starting to play with us and not play foosball all the time.
Ya, so, the VBS is called "SpaceQuest!" and it's all space themed. Haha. But aside from singing about Jesus and the memory verse and the short Bible story, I'm feeling a huge craving to just share more about Jesus with the kids. That's what pre-camp and post-camp time is for yo! Just sitting with the kids and asking questions about Jesus, sharing how Good God is and being their friends. God loves these children. We have to show them His love while we have the chance. I know you can't have everything be a great gospel presentation 24/7. lol. That doesn't work either, but being real and just playing with them (instead of chasing them down with hugs and tickles) whatever they want to play, and talking about God; can't we do that?
Ya, that's enough for today's post. lol. I've got lots to say though. (Notes on my phone, eh? Haha) We're gonna go swimming tomorrow. Hope that goes well. lol. >.>
